    Any Knitters or Spinners here?

I knit and crochet and about a month ago I made the leap to spinning. LOVE it!!! My first 350 yds (+ or -) of spindle spun yarn are hanging to dry right now. I don't know how I'll ever find time to knit or crochet again !

    Sapling Wattle Run?

I think it's a great idea! I don't have any practical experience but I did a lot of research a few years back because I wanted to build a wattle and daub shed. This form of construction can be very tight and tough. The Brits and Aussies may not have raccoons and coyotes but they do have some...

Funniest Things A City Slicker Has Ever Said To You?

I run into the "no rooster, no eggs" gem quite a bit. I recently met a guy that was absolutely convinced that I wasn't going to get any eggs since I didn't have a rooster. I tried to explain to him, but he was having none of it. I finally said, "I'm going to have to figure out who keeps...

    Omg---purling?!

Purling was definitely more difficult for me to pick up. Then, all of a sudden, I realized I was purling without biting my lip or clenching my jaw. I was just counting rows on my current project and realized that I had purled half a row that should've been knitted without realizing it. As far...

    Crocheting a rag rug??

Here's my most recent rag rug project made from old blue jeans. I need to rework the border (again) just can't seem to get straight edges. The pattern came from an old book and had a lot of typos and I'm not sure I've found all of them yet. And here is a pic of the tote made from plastic...

    Crocheting a rag rug??

My grandmother taught me to crochet making rag rugs and I still make a lot of them, I never throw away jeans or sheets, or well, anything, really. I remember those bread bag rugs, too. Now I collect those plastic shopping bags and cut those up and crochet reusable totes.

Gonna do something for myself!! Take Knitting lessons :)

Have fun! I taught myself to knit from books and there are some great free videos on youtube. I'm a guy and I was too self conscious to take lessons in the beginning but now there's the whole "Men Who Knit" phenomena going on so I may be looking into to lessons so I can take my knitting to the...

    Chickens and Knitting!

Quote: Knitting on circulars isn't as complicated as it looks. I taught myself with youtube videos. You can also make your own custom knitting needles with dowels from the hardware store, a pencil sharpener and some sand paper. Glue a button or knobby type thing to one end and "Hey, presto!".

Honey - there's a chicken knocking on the door!

When the girls can't get my attention at the back door, they check at the kitchen window. Sometimes they just hang out with me while I'm doing dishes. It sure produces some interesting responses from guests.

Your favorite line of dialogue from a movie?

Monty Python's "Holy Grail" "It's just a flesh wound." I say that all the time, usually when the wound in question is not my own.

Your favorite line of dialogue from a movie?

Oh, there are soooo many! A friend and I often have entire conversations made up of favorite lines from movies and tv shows. For now, I'll just post one from Monty Python's "Life of Bryan" "Did he say blessed are the cheesemakers?"

    Thanksgiving? in the UK!!!

You have to have the sweet potatoes baked with the little marshmellows on top. It's almost cliche. I grew up in Missouri, so I'm not really a southerner or a yankee, but our family ALWAYS served two meats, no matter what the holiday. Quite often, two or more families showing up at grandma's...
