Lol they don't LITERALLY turn into drakes, they don't magically grow a noodle. But they do grow in drake feathers, their color changes to look like a male, and their behavior becomes more aggressive/may start trying to mount other females. So, functionally a drake in all but where making babies...
What @SilverBirds said. At this point they should have their adult voices. Females tend to quack as early as 2 months, males keep their peepy baby voices for longer until one day around 4 months old they wake up one day sounding like they smoke 3 packs a day. 😂
Do you have any video of them...
My Bean hit henopause and has a fantastic drake curl! So even if you had an all girl flock, at some point they're all gonna turn into drakes and become more aggressive. I'm sure they don't all go aggro, but both older girls I got are almost worse than my drake 🤦🏻♀️ Poor Wobbles is terrified of...
Yeah, he's definitely going to the vet more often now that he's older. He can reach his preen gland just fine, he just never actually does the head rub thing as much as he should. He's always been a very "special" duck
Thanks for replying, I'll see what the vet says. I'm going to ask to...
I feel your pain. My Bean hit henopause this year and now she thinks she's a drake, constantly picking fights with my male Wobbles. I have to seperate them constantly, which is no easy task cuz she's so tenacious.
Please keep us updated, hopefully once the babies are bigger he'll leave them alone!
No worries for the mass tagging, but do you know when we'll learn who won and got their birbs in the calendar? :D
Edit: nevermind, just saw your response to @Maty. May the best birb win! (But I'm totally biased towards my duccos lol)
My Bean struggles with chronic bumble. Iodine soaks, epsom salt soaks, and foot wraps is what our vet recommended.
I suggest bringing her inside for a few days and wrapping the foot so she's got pressure off it, either a neoprene duck bootie or cut a soft silicone medical pad (I use these) and...
I'm so sorry for your loss, it's always hard to lose a bird but especially when it's one of our favorites. 😞 Unfortunately without a necropsy or more information, it's hard to say what caused it. It could have been pasteurella, could have been egg bound or egg yolk peritonitis.
Worst case...
Hey y'all, I'm worried about my houseduck Wobbles. He turned 11 this year and he's got some issues going on, he's developed cataracts in both eyes and he's generally slowed down a bit.
But for the last couple weeks or so, he's been suffering from pretty severe wet feather. His oil gland is just...
Hi all, I come to you with a problem. My male and female duck, Wobbles and Bean, are fighting excessively. This has never happened outside of mating. They are going at each other like they hate the other one more than anything else in the world!
They NEVER used to be like this. They've been...
Hi all! So it's day 6, a little early I know but I'm impatient, lol. Unfortunately it looks like all 3 eggs are duds. :hmm I'll keep the incubator going a few more days just in case, but they look pretty clear to me. I think Wobbles is shooting blanks! 😂
Hi all,
It's been ages since I've posted here, but I finally was able to access my login info after quite the digital wrestling match with BYC and my long lost email accounts of ye olde days.
I hope some of my friends here are still around, I had a long, terrible struggle trying to get...
If he's the only one, it's best to keep him as a house duck. He's scones to you, and will be unhappy outside all alone! You can't potty train a duck, but you can buy diapers for them. I buy mine from sew Sammi.com, she's the best!
