This chick was the last to hatch on day 21 (Easter Sunday) and was assisted after 36 hours. It has curled toes on left side and has quickly improved in getting around, although I thought I’d try the bandaid splint today. Chick is eating and drinking. My concern is this umbilical bubble that has...
Hi there!
I have incubated eggs before, but this is my first experience with hatching shipped eggs. I have a couple questions... I have the egg turner in which the eggs lay on their side and I understand that is not the way to go for shipped eggs. I will keep them upright somehow. I read about...
So, I've never bought hatching eggs before but I'm anxious to use my new incubator in the spring!!! Does the buy/sell/trade for hatching eggs get more active in the spring? Has anyone had luck ordering hatching eggs from cackle, murray mcmurray, mypetchicken, etc?
Thanks!
I think I've come to the conclusion that he has a sour crop... I gave him ACV in his water and he seems to be perking up. Also massaged the crop and giving him yogurt. We were very worried about him! Not as worried about the show, but happy he's feeling better! My 8 year old is showing him for...
I’m sure he’s nervous but does he realize how nervous he’s making us!? . He’s hunched over like this now. Do you think it could be worms? Would it hurt to treat just in case? Do you suppose if we treat tonight and check him in tomorrow to show him Sunday we’d be ok??
We are getting prepared to go to the fair with our 1 year old d'uccle rooster. He's been GREAT up until this week, and we caged him and brought him over to a friends to practice our speeches when we noticed his comb was droopier than usual. The next morning (Tuesday) we gave him a bath and since...
Thanks for your response and your knowledge!! I don’t understand the “could be out of Mille fleurs though” statement. Does that mean they aren’t d’uccles? Also does the blue color show sometimes without breeding specifically for it?
I looked up the blue buff columbian and they sure do look similar!! I emailed the breeder and she seems confident they are Mille fleur d’uccles and they are going to change more after their first molt. I do feel like she knows her birds pretty well but I was just wanting other opinions. I got...
We got these chicks from a breeder 10 weeks ago. We all thought they were Mille fleur d’uccles when we picked out chicks but I’m now noticing hey have more gray feathers and not necessarily looking Mille-like. The cockerel is gorgeous! Just wondering is anyone has an idea of what variety these...
This is our 1 year old Mille fleur d’uccle. I’ve never dealt with scaly leg mites and this is my first experience with feather legged chickens. Is this scaly leg mites? Just got him out of soaking with soapy water and applied Vaseline just in case, as our son is showing him for 4H in about 3 weeks.
