Lady Dre... how do you keep a chicken in your house? She must wear diapers? I have one hen, Dolly who loves coming in the house, and I would let her if I could figure out a way to stop any messes? Thanks!

How are things this a.m.?
I know how frustrating it is diagnosing and treating a sick chicken. You really have to become your own vet, and at times you feel so helpless. Thank goodness there are so many people on this website willing to offer their advice. I've had some success stories and...
I recently read about placing a few pennies in a baggie with some water and hanging it up in the area where the flies are... supposedly the flies hate the reflection the pennies/water/sun emit and therefore... FLY AWAY! Haven't tried it myself, but will soon.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer about your girl, but I'm pretty sure that avacado is poisonous to chickens. Good luck with your girl, I hope she gets better.
My hen Mabeline has what I'm pretty sure is a bad case of scaly leg mites. I feel so bad for her. She is really starting to suffer with them... I've sprayed her legs a few times with Permethrin (sp?), but that has not done the trick - and she HATES being sprayed. My thoughts are giving her a...
I imagine molting is very hard on a hen, but can it make them very sick too? My hen Dolly is very weak and lethargic and is walking very crouched down. She almost acts as if she's had a stroke or something. There are no visible signs of injury. I've had other hens molt and I can tell they...
I've also lost a contact to a hen.... and an earring. They look so darn sweet and innocent and then WHAM they nail ya right in the eye... or up the nose or between the teeth.... I know... I know... EWWWWWWW!!!!
This might sound crazy, but our roo has been gone for 3 months (at least) and some of the eggs my girls are laying still have a bullseye. That means their fertile right?
I saw that PBS special - she took that chicken with her in the car too! It was hysterical!
I'd be tempted to try the diaper thing, just because a couple of my hens love being in the house - is it very difficult to diaper a chicken?

Thank you! I'll visit your thread right now.
I do not think my hen's problem is egg related. I hope not anyway because I just lost a hen back in May from being egg bound. This hen has totally different symptoms.
Good luck to you, I hope your hen gets better soon.
My hen June, (2 year old RIR) has not felt well for nearly a week. I admitted her into to the hospital on Monday that we keep ready in our basement. She is drinking and eating a little bit. She'll eat a little bit of the treats I give her; scrambed egg, grapes and little bits of canned corn...
