    Buff Silkie Thread!

It will be a buff partridge or a buff with a lot of smut. But not pure buff, no.

Some people spell 'Americana' when they really have Easter Eggers, so just making sure. :) If we do decide to ship, we will announce it on our FB page.

    Blue verses black Silkies

Do you photos of them as chicks to compare? This is one of my dark blue hens. Her clutch mate was black as a chick, and turned out lighter than her as an adult. I'll see if I can find a photo.

    Blue verses black Silkies

I had a chick that was black last year, and turned out blue though. I was sure it was black, but it wasn't.

    Blue verses black Silkies

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this, so sorry if it's in the wrong place. For those breeding blue and/or black Silkies, how does one tell the difference between a dark blue chick and black chick? I've had a "black" chick, turn out to be a dark blue, and I was wondering if there was a way to...

Me? I don't ship eggs at the moment, but I don't breed Easter Eggers, just true Ameraucanas.

Have you tried your local co-ops? They may know where to get there, or may be able to order them in for you.

    Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

If it's crusty, it's most likely "egg goo". You may have to wash it off. Use warm water and dry as well and gently as possible, then put back directly under the heat.

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Lots can "hide" behind the white coloring, so it's not surprising you're only getting partridges and blacks.

    Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

If you can put some sort of cage around her without stressing her, that would be helpful for when the chicks hatch. You don't want other birds getting to the chicks - they may not be so nice as mom. Make sure she has food and water very close to her so she doesn't have to move far (otherwise she...

    Very pretty bird, nonetheless. :)

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Looks partridge. If I had to say, it looks like a pullet.

How do you get a red paint? Have not heard of them.

    New Quail hutch!

I change the shavings every week or so, give or take if they are extra messy. My lines are from JM lines. I have a Golden Speckled trio and I'm just starting Australian Fawn. I would love to have Silvers though.

    New Quail hutch!

I'd love to get buttons one day. What do you use them for? Eggs/meat?

    Barred Rock thread!!

My Barred Rock girls don't start laying until about 8-9 months old. It's normal for them to take long as they are a heritage breed. They are such a beautiful, amazing breed.

    New Quail hutch!

My father made us a new Quail hutch for our breeding Quail, for Christmas. It's 5 feet long and so easy to feed and water them now. I love it. :)
