I will be getting it again too! Maybe even just before fall. It is just too fun. My only problem, which makes me nervous, is having so many that I don't know who is who or if any are missing. I am used to brooding around 12-20 at a time and head counting twice a day.
Thanks for the names! I...
I hope I didn't get a huge load of EE. There were two orders. Selected and Surprise. We kept the 30 banded so I would learn to recognize the ones I actually selected. All of the EE's that wear bands have greyish tones to them...and beards. When we did our big sort, I found 4 others like them and...
I am sorry it took awhile to get back here. We had some bad weather and I forgot about fun for a bit. All is well now.
These came from Cackle hatchery. Thanks for pointing out the Millie Fleur although I am a little disappointed. You are right. Nothing has feathered feet except for the Brahmas.
If the 2nd black ones are the Astralorps, then the 3rd white is a Jersey Giant. I couldn't remember if I ordered them black or white. Our computer crashed so I lost the emails.
This means I ordered 5 Black Australorps + 1 (even hatcheries are in on chicken math), 7 Light Brahmas, 7 EE, 5 White...
Here is a post just for fun! Want to help me figure out what they are? They are a month old now and feathering out so well. I ordered 5 breeds but changed the order a week before so I don't remember what they are! Plus we had our surprise which has turned out so cool and fun! I know I ordered...
Haha Miss Lydia! That is a becoming an understatement. He refuses to be confined and somehow gets over the 4ft fence across the front of his poultry shed. I gave up. He outsmarts me at every turn. I learned geese can jump and fly straight up.
He has fallen in love with the downspout at the...
My goose turned out to be a bit of a hassle...I was going to call him a jerk but I'm sure he doesn't mean it. We call him Comandant, or Adolf. I have moved him to a new area all of his own where he will have space to live comfortably. I am now going to keep him there and hopefully he will learn...
Hi, I did some looking and cannot identify the second gosling. To me, it looks like a blue swedish duck! I am not familiar with goslings though...only ducks.
When you find out...even much later...remember me. I'd like to know now! :) Welcome to the boards! Congrats on your cuties!
Anyone?
The coop smells sorta sweet. No chicken themselves smell "off". Their poo is mostly tarry black. sometimes the black, layer of green, and white cap. The feed is currently a mix of four things. 20lbs scratch - Corn/milo, 40lbs Nutrena all flock pellet 18%, 50lbs Stillwater Mills (OK)...
Thanks! We do love him. I am glad to hear he might be young. We plan on going to some auctions to see what we can find for his company. So far, having a goose is nice and much easier than I thought. :)
...does this...almost all day. He will roost in a tree but prefers the coop, get up and drink, eats what is in front of him when he lays down, makes *quiet* noises. Not typical guinea behavior. The guineas started this when illness struck. One died. Three are left. This behavior has been...
Not a great pic but, here he is. Is he African or Chinese?
He hasn't stuck his head through again but I will wrap it. If you think he will....it was scary enough that I will fix it then. I let him out yesterday morning since I wasn't sure on him staying in a 4x4 all day long. He has taken up...
You know those family members who think that just because you have land you need pets? We have one lol. We were given a little gift of a full grown Chinese goose today...probably a gander. Well...now what?
He's in a 4ft by 4ft pen. I will give him some of the feed we give the chickens and...
