    I can’t feel anything like an egg. Her crop is emptied by morning. this morning I cleaned the area with Betadine and put some antibiotic ointment in and around the area.

    Wyorp Rock. My hen is sick again😢 she has been doing so well. Now the last few days I see the yellow milky goo coming from her vent. She is constantly crying, it seems even when she isn’t trying to poop. It makes me so sad. I don’t know what to do? should I start treating her again?

    Yes, they have stopped laying. I think they are eating chick starter now as I read it was higher in protein. Interesting that you bring up oyster shell. I add it to food or put it out separately along with grit and can tell they never touch the stuff. I’m relentless and keep putting it out but...

    I read somewhere that during molting, chickens need lots of protein and meal worms are high in protein and another reason I have been trying to feed other foods.

    yes they have feed available at all times and I have discovered they do like it when it has a little water added. I have also tried yogurt which they normally do like on occasion but no interest in that either. Okay, thanks. I will stop worrying.

    wow, so much detailed information. I knew my hens were molting, and why but only instinctively did I know what food they needed during this period. They hardly eat at all and I’ve tried several different food sources but no luck. Many thanks for the great, well written and informative article.
