Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hey gang. I am coming up on having the chickens for a year without any significant health issues. I noticed that three of my hens are losing their back feathers. My original thought was molting, but now I notice the rooster is losing his features too. Any thought or suggestions? I will try...

What is the status of the coon surprise? Any eggs yet? One of our barred-rock girls gave us her first egg 5 days ago. So far she is 5 for 5!

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hey Gang, Does anybody have the contact info or BYC username for Brian Devereaux? I think he was from Zeeland. He was at Chickenstock in June w/ a coop door-opener. I had his contact info written down on a paper...can't find the paper. I thought his username was MI_Chickens but that username...

    Nova's Weekly Michigan Run down

Thanks for posting this Nova...There is just no way I can keep up on the Michigan thread, but as long as this doesn't get too out of hand, at least I can keep semi-connected to everybody through your color commentary on the goings on there!

M.Sue...AWESOME Garden! I am so jealous. We got a late start on our garden this year because I spent all of my time at home working on the coop/run. We have a few peppers and a few tomatoes, a pumpkin, and have some watermelons started. But I am sure that garden is lots of work...

MICHIGAN Chickenstock North - 2012 August or September

My vote is for Sept or Oct time frame. My kids have soccer on Saturday mornings during that time of year, but we would love to travel up and go camping nearby if that is possible. As soon as you decide on a date and location, please advise. I already have weekends filling up in September. I...

Great job Opa and clan! You guys threw a great party. Would have liked to stay longer and meet more people, but I am thankful for the friends I did meet and can now put a face w/ a screen name. The youngest had puked all over me, and wasn't feeling well, so we had to make our departure...

Michigan Chickenstock 2012 -- Pot Luck Food Thread

Are drinks still needed? I saw someone post they were bringing them, but don't see them on the combined list at the beginning? Are there any other paper type products needed?

All the chicks got baptized one by one. Some were interested..others weren't. I see several of them drinking at the waterer now, so hopefully the ones who aren't drinking, will want to imitate the ones who are! They all seem to be pecking at the starter that is sprinkled in the box.

Jendear-so glad you found the diapers. DW and I were talking about it, and just couldn't believe people would do that. Hopefully this will all work out for the greater good!

The peeps have arrived! That phone call at 6:05 this morning could only be one thing. Post office! I jumped out of bed and drove to the post office post haste! All of the chicks seem healthy and happy except for one. She is smaller than the others and just sorta stands there and seems...

RIRJen and Opa. Thanks. I figured it was probably something simple like that, but just wanted to make sure that ya'll didn't have some secret you were keeping from me! Hopefully I won't have to use this technique anytime soon!

So is that something that us non-vet chicken owners can do? How would a responbile chicken owner do it?

Taprock...good story. Seemed like something my five-yr-olds would enjoy. Is the purpose of the story just for the story's sake or are you going to have some follow up questions like: Are there any things you are scared of? What are some things you could do to overcome your fears like Peep? How...
