Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

ok here is the scoop on my eggs.. today will be day 24 at 1pm..
I have 2 external pips so far.. one at 630am and one just now..
wish me luck.. I am starting to feel alittle better..
been kinda stressing since day 21..
I know my temp were probably low 99.5 for my incubator i read should of been 101 - 102.8 and that is probably the reason for the late hatch.. just hoping these eggs hatch out healthy..

not touching incubator till they hatch now..

I dressed up 2 of my chickens a couple of weeks ago... for the "tiara contest". LOL. The hen was not too impressed... but the brahma roo thought it was about time he got his crown.

Ok, so I don't do this on a normal basis! It was kind of fun for the afternoon though.

How sweet they are funny and cute at the same time.. lol
I hear cheeping from my incubator! Today is day 19. I've told the little cheepers to take their time and come out tomorrow... only 1 day early. It's the EEs that want to hatch early. The BR eggs still have a little bit to go, so they're either right on schedule for Saturday/Sunday hatching, or maybe even running a tad behind. ? Both breeds were set the same day, same time, sooo...

Ya know my mom used to always say "Don"t play with your food". Now I know why she was so concerned.

Hey Raz or anybody that can help me on this. My order of strawberry plants came yesterday, and its too early for me to do any planting. :barnie The pigs are not out of the garden yet, and I have not made any raised beds yet! So, what to do with the plants? Freeze them until I am ready? Thanks for any help!

I love this! Makes me feel less crazy LOL

Hey gang. I am coming up on having the chickens for a year without any significant health issues. I noticed that three of my hens are losing their back feathers. My original thought was molting, but now I notice the rooster is losing his features too. Any thought or suggestions? I will try posting a pic of my backfeatherless chickens tomorrow. Thanks.

Daron,
You can plant strawberry plants when the ground is workable. Meaning when it is thawed enough to dig and not too wet. If you can dig the hole with your hands then it is workable.

Or you could put them in pots until you get the raised beds ready. Mine are in pots for now. HTH
