    To solve the problem of little birds pooping in the chickens’ water bowl, I hung up one of these bird scare balloons. And it works!!!! No more tiny poops in the water! They call them balloons but they are really just like beach balls, they seem very durable. We also hung 2 in the open garage...

    Egg production is down

    My hens have never laid all winter. They’ve all stopped now. It’s okay, they need a break, those that take a break will probably live longer.

    Where did you live in NM? My daughter just got back from a camping trip in NE NM. She loved it, drove the enchanted circle, explored areas she might be interested in living. We are considering relocating because of ticks and alpha gal here.

    SPECKLED SUSSEX SPECKLES?

    I have an 9 yr old SS hen and she had less speckles when in the first year, and got more and more with each molt. I remember asking about it and was told this is what to expect.
