I'm getting chicks any day now, they actually started hatching this morning on my friend's farm. I am planning on putting their brooder in the coop itself from day 1. I'm hoping this means they can integrate to the flock early. Is this possible?
Second, it's warm here in Ohio. Like mid 80s...
Y'all know how I wanted to build a bigger coop. I fell in love with the "saltbox Amish style". Snagging one from a local person who just wants it gone for a killer deal! I go pick her up Saturday! Tons more room and more room for some more chickens!
I appreciate all the input! I think I would like to put a regular window in and maybe a hardware cloth vent. I can't decide on nest boxes and if I want it in the run or not. They do free range when we are home.
Help me decide what plan I want to go with:

I scored a 10'x-10'x6' dog kennel from. A friend for $20! It needs some repairs in the fencing, as soon as it's not freezing and 50mph winds I will be working on it. Now I'm working on trying to decide how to build a coop and what design I want. I think I want something 8'x5''x6'. Can't decide...
Aww your little one picks chickens too.
My daughters are obsessed as much as I am. I think I'll just wait. We are building a new coop and I think I'll grab a silkie from someone then. Maybe 2. Lol
There's a coop I think the perfect size I need listed locally for $25!!!!! I'm waiting on measurements but I think I'll be getting it. Which means more chickens
