I have a hen that just hatched out 3 chicks and was her first time being broody. Chicks were hatched on Sunday and the last 2 days poop has been very runny. Is this normal?
Ok, when I do move her, if I put a movable pan under her first, when I do move her, which I will do at night, do I have to worry that she might jump out of the pan? I have never moved one at night... Or are they just so docile that I don't have to worry about that?
Ok, was having trouble replying. I don't have anything set up to move her to a private place, wsdnt expecting her to go bloody. But really excited about it. I will go out tonight and mark the eggs and make sure I remove any new ones. I thought maybe I would move her into a dog crate and out it...
I have a Wyandotte sitting on eggs. She just started yesterday. She will leave the nest to go eat and of course she is in the favorite nesting box. So, when she got out of it this morning another hen got in, and I am presuming laid an egg in there. Then when that hen got out the Wyandotte...
We have a year old black lab, Bailey. She loves our chickens. The chickens were probably 2-3 months when we got her. I am not sure if she thinks she is a chicken or what. She doesn't understand why they don't want to play with her and she tries to trade them with her bnes. The chickens will be...
I have 8 hens and one oster, they are almost a year old. During the winter I have been getting 3 eggs a day and lately maybe 4. Well today when I went out to let them out there was nothing. This is the first time I haven't had any eggs. What's up with that?
My RIR has always been very docile but one day out of the blue he decided to see how tough he was and I was walking across the yard and he attacked back of my leg. I was totally shocked and gut reaction was I turned around and kicked him. He has never been aggressive again. I probably wouldn't...
My flock had slowed down in the last week. I was getting 7 or 8 a day and the last week has gone anywhere from 4 to 6 depending on the day. I am in Washington and it hasn't really got cold here yet. Today I got one that was really small like when they first started laying. We have been having...
It has been very rainy here. I clean their coop everyday. I will watch him and use antibiotics if he gets worse. Thanks so much for the info, really appreciate it.
My rooster stopped crowing 3 days ago and I can hear a little noise in his breathing. He is eating and drinking like normal. I wormed them all as a precaution. They normally get to free range but we have a coyote problem at the moment and so they have been locked in their run. I don't really...
Something that works good to stop bleeding is dipping their foot into flour. My rooster had a toenail that got ripped and I had to cut it off his toe and I used flour and it worked great to clot the blood.
