My Easter egger pullet laid her first egg a couple of days ago but didn't lay one yesterday or today so far. Is this normal? I am anxious for her to be laying regularly. My other 2 newbies hatched the same date, a cuckoo marans and a cream legbar have not started laying yet but I'm hoping they...
I'm on day 3 and the chicks are still terrified of Precious and she's still pecking them a little but not bad and not much. I've been letting Precious out of the run after she lays her egg and closing the door so that the chicks can run around and act normal and hopefully get to know Precious...
My chicken Precious has been alone for several months since her only companion died. I got four little chicks to keep her company and they will be 10 weeks old on Tuesday. What is the best way to introduce them to each other? They will all be living in the run and coop that Precious currently...
Oh yeah and I meant to add. I ordered 4 chicks. I think 2 of them the cream leg bar and the golden cuckoo maran are hens for sure. I also ordered 2 Easter Eggers cuz I like them but I think those are the roo risk chickens.
Thanks guys. I will certainly update you. I'm sure I'll need your help when I get them. Precious is pretty chill. I'm hoping she'll just be happy to have friends.
Thank you. What you're saying is sorta what I've been thinking. I know they grow fast, but I just don't know how long it takes for them to get almost her size. She's not huge. She probably weighs 4-5 pounds. Please tell me we're talking weeks not months .....
I am unsure how to proceed. I have one lonesome chicken, Precious, who really wants some friends. Her only friend died last month. I ordered 4 chicks that are due to hatch on March 9th. I'm not sure how old the chicks need to be before I introduce them to Precious but I know I will have to raise...
She's doing better today. I am relieved. I also am now worried that I caused this with using a concrete block as a step for my chickens to get up to the perch I made for them. I noticed when she jumped down from the perch onto the concrete block she seemed to flinch a little like it hurt maybe...
I am very happy to report that she is doing better today. The ibuprofen seems to be helping. She is still sitting some but she's up and around way more today.
Oh and it seems that she's not as skinny as I thought she was. The vet did say she was on the thin side but didn't think she was dangerously skinny. I am new to chickens. I guess I just don't know what thery're really supposed to feel like. I also suspect that my other chicken is a little on the...
Unfortunately I no longer have the contact information for the woman I got the chicken from so I don't know if this chicken has been vaccinated against the Mareck's. She doesn't really seem sick, it looks more to me like she hurt herself perhaps. She is really skinny, but she's always been...
She seems about the same today. She spent the night in a cat carrier in my bathroom and now she's hanging out in the tub. I gave her scrambled eggs and oatmeal and water but she's just picking at it. She has never had a big appetite like my other chicken does.
I hope someone here has some ideas.
Or maybe she's in pain I'm not sure. This started the other day and is getting worse. I have examined her and I can't figure out what's wrong with her except for the fact that she seems very skinny. I only have one other chicken who is a big pig and hogs most of the food, is it possible that...
