Salmon Faverolle rooster available in Temecula Valley in So Cal. Mother won first place at Modesto show 2015. Prefer pick-up & can meet within a reasonable distance.
Hi all,
I'm hearing that Ameraucana egg color fades as they lay longer in the season. Is that generally the case? Also, do the different colors (blue, black, lavender) make a difference in the egg color?
So, the jury is still out on the 2 blues from the Easter HAL. In the group shot I think the bigger one on the left is probably a cockerel. The smaller one on the right I'm still hoping is a pullet. Thoughts please?
How old are SFH's typically when they begin to lay? We have some that are 11 weeks 3 days old (Easter day hatch) and we just got a teeny tiny egg from that pen. There are two older hens in there that have been laying regular sized eggs for some time. We got one regular sized egg and the teeny...
We have been getting some funky eggs lately. I am attaching some pictures of the one I cracked open this morning. They tend to have very watery whites, but this is the first time I've seen such dramatic changes in the yolk. Egg size from this pen can be highly variable.
We have also been...
**SOLD** I have 2 pairs of 3-week old Salmon Faverolle chicks available. Hen was shown & took first place at Modesto show. Also have one very pretty extra rooster. Please PM for information.

Well, let me know when you are ready......I'm up to trading for some Ameraucana pullets/hens and/or Black Copper Marans pullets/hens that have super dark eggs.
Pictures of the black chick in question. The feathers are all ruffled up because of me and the wind.

When I get the chicks hatched I will start taking pix & let you know what I see color-wise. Since I have chosen to cross the Rees roo onto non-Rees hens & eventually vice versa (when the Rees pullets are old enough), I am hoping to maximize the overall quality with the best of both worlds. We...
Our flock of 4 girls consistently gives me an average of 3 eggs per day. They are mostly nice sized, too. We are selecting the largest eggs to hatch. We will have hatching eggs available shortly.
So you mean the dark blue one? We are seriously hoping it is a pullet. S/he is my personal favorite. Love the darkness of the blue. S/he was so dark at hatching that it wasn't until feathers began to come in that we were convinced s/he was blue. I will get more pictures of them when the sun...
The darker blue one was so dark at hatching that for a week or so we thought it was black. Then it began to lighten up & we discovered it was really a very dark blue. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.
