Well, as of today, I have 5 poults that have hatched under my old hen... The eggs that I rescued and put under the Buff Brahma hen are just starting to hatch.. I saw one little turkey baby peek it's head when I fed and watered today.. I see broken shells, but I'll check tomorrow for sure and...
I am currently experiencing a heart breaking hatching season for my turkeys... First, my incubator hatch was due on Monday with no signs of anything....Humidity had dropped to 55% during the night..I have again raised it up to around 72% and I will give them another day and pray for the best...
I didn't have many left over chocolates, 7 to be exact and I made up a sign, loaded a cage with the poults and went to the Mill early this past Saturday morning... I sat on the tailgate and luckily for me, they all sold to one buyer within 5 minutes... My poults were 8 weeks old, happy and...
Hey Gobble, I've been following the post and am thrilled that things seem to be going your way...Just watch your back and your birds now...If the neighbor is that po'd, I'm hoping that they don't retaliate... You also need to dot your i's and cross all your t's... I had a similar experience...
thank you so much..He is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! I was told this AM that I have Chocolates... It just so happens, I ran into the man I bought my turkeys from last year, today at the store.. I questioned him about them being chocolates... Said he had more than sweetgrass and "oh well, must...
thank you TV!!! Do you happen to know if it's normal for the poults to hatch and be black and white, then change to brown and yellow? I have eight poults that are changing color as I type......
8 chicks!! one was hiding... so that's my final tally.. everyone seems to be doing GREAT so far... they are changing color very quickly..were born black with white heads and now are turning brown with yellow heads... strange.....
still wishing I could tell what strain my hen and tom are.. I...
lost three of my babies today..Not sure how they managed to get outside into the pen, but everyone is locked down for the night and tomorrow, I will be working on finding the chink in the armour or the hole in the coop....
I have no clue now..I thought I had sweetgrass hen and tom, but evidently not..I went to porter too and truthfully my poults look like Spanish blacks, but two more hatched and they look like sweetgrass!!! I'm wondering if they can throw back to a recessive gene.. I wish I knew. I've searched all...
Well I thought I had a sweetgrass hen and tom... I let Gerty set 13 eggs when she went broody and as of lst night, I had 7 hatched!! The problem is, my poults are all black with white on their heads!!! any idea why? shouldn't the poults be brown?
Is it a recessive gene? Could this be because...
She is doing such a GREAT job and I have decided to take your advice and leave her to raise her babies..It's gonna be pretty damp and chilly for the next few days and I'm hoping Gerty can keep all those babies warm... I may not even open her coop today and hope whatever heat they have they'll...
My turkey babies are hatching!!! Four out of thirteen eggs hatched yesterday and I can't see if any more have today, as my hen is sitting tight to the nest!! they are the sweetest little things... Now my dilemna... are they safe being left under the hen? She is separate from the Tom, so that is...
I clip flights on one side only, so they are pretty much grounded... Mine wanted to tree roost instead of going in their coop... Now that they're full grown, I keep them clipped and my fence is only 4 ft... But to be honest, my tom paces constantly along the fence and has rubbed all his chest...
