    IS THIS NORMAL?

One of my chickens do this when I feed her bird seed out of my hand or a cup. I think she just eats it so quick and in such a greedy way she has to sort of "sneeze" it out. Sometimes she sounds like a goose honking! I wouldn't worry about it...but if you are, why not try pellets?

Having one HECK of a time with integration. Help, please?

That is wonderful advice! Thank you!!! I know I should wait until her leg is fully healed, but she wants out so bad...:( And I am feeding chick starter, still, even to Brownie...she is still laying good hard eggs, and if they go soft I'll feed her egg shells back...I'm just worried about how...

Having one HECK of a time with integration. Help, please?

So here's the deal, and I'll try to keep it short... About a month and a half ago, I decided to get three new chicks, to eventually add to my flock of four fully grown chickens. One of these fully grown chickens is a wonderful (to me) rooster. I figured I'd keep the chicks inside until...

Spoiled Chicks... Do they even know they are chickens? (pictures)

I agree that Ruby is actually a Rudy, and it is so funny because my grown rooster's name is Rudy, too!.....And, he is an absolute baby. He lays in my lap, nuzzles under my arm, and snuggles with me as long as I will pet him, and sometimes longer. I wish he wasn't so sweet so that I could feel...

    Everything is coming up chickens

I notice the same thing!! There are sooo many chicken sayings, or sayings based on chickens- I notice them all the time now. Also there is chicken stuff everywhere you go that I never noticed before I had chickens. My son and I have a sort of game where every time we see a chicken image (...

need ideas on how to raise a dog not to kill my chickens.

Oh, I didn't realize you live in Puerto Rico...that is a shame that you can't rely on police to help you out. I hope your dad gets the chance to get rid of those dogs soon!

Roswell, GA's "Chicken Man" home explodes moments before eviction!

I am absolutely horrified. I live less than two hours away from Roswell, and have two friends who live there, one who would love to raise backyard chickens. I will be sending her this link..... How can we let the authorities do this kind of thing? This makes me sick.

Planning For "First" Flock, What Breeds Should I get?

Can't wait to see the responses!! I am adding on to my "flock" as well. (I only have four full grown chickens and three chicks). I have two mutts that are by far the sweetest and cuddliest. I have a Red Star that is an egg laying machine, and a Black Copper Maran that, though friendly, is...

need ideas on how to raise a dog not to kill my chickens.

I would call Animal Control on those pit bulls ASAP. If the owner doesn't even live there and only comes to feed them, the dogs are killing other animals in the area, etc, why haven't you done anything about them yet??? If I were you I would shoot every one of them, especially after they...

Spur Bumps on Chicks: Roosters?? Photo included...

Sure thing...here's the Leghorn. I got the one of the smallest one out of the hatch hoping for hen: Here's the bigger of the two EE's, sorry such a bad photo but it's hard photographing chickens...he was just poking his head out, this is the one I think is a cockerel because he also already...
