    Stop telling me that chickens SMELL !

    I had same issue especially frommy husband who was anti chicken but tired of fighting about it and gave in. I've had them 6 weeks and only time they smelled and it was the coop not them was when it rained and the pine shavings and poop got wet. Fixed that problem with a tarp for when it rains

    Oh My! I have given them mealworms and just started raising them a few weeks ago and thats just I can't wait to toss out the crickets I got from pet store tonight! Looks like we all had a shared thought tonight!

    Clipping chicken wing and it started to bleed? What to do?

    If it stoped bleeding I would leave it be and let the scab form but I have no experience in that. I know there is styptic powder you can put on dog or cat nails if you hit the quick but not sure if you can use it on chickens. It stops the bleeding

    depends on how crouded the brooder is. I would go with month old, I believe silkies are smaller than lf and that might make them on equal ground as they would be 2 weeks older. But I thought you were supposed to quarntine new birds for a month before introducing to your flock but I'm not sure...

    I hate to say this but THANK GOODNESS! He's kinda mean looking agrressive towards the others and well..... I want more chicks in the spring but don't have room unless I move a few on to other homes.

    ...I met on here.Oh yeah and his comb is still flat to head but is deffinatly turning red compared to everyone else.     How long do eggs keep?

    I've heard the ones from the grocery store can be a month old when you buy them and have a 2 or 3 week shelf life on the package still. So I say at least a month but I would do the float test before you cook if your not sure, or crack them in a separate bowl and smell them first. Hope some one...
