Sorry to confuse ya, Veer. :) I knew the store ordered chicks from a hatchery, I just wasn't sure which one until today when they confirmed it for me. That's why I called it a "hatchery chick" in my original post. Sorry I confused ya! :)
I have an update! I figured out which hatchery the store uses, and called the hatchery (Ideal).
The gal asked me to send a photo, and she had some of the employees take a look.
Seems it's a little pullet NORWEGIAN JAERHON. Yay! Fun!!
I should also add that I have no idea which hatchery the farm store we got this chick from orders chicks from. Maybe I will call them tomorrow... It isn't a store we go to very often, due to distance from home.
Golden cuckoo was my best guess as well... But I dismissed it because it's a chick from a farm supply store. I didn't think they'd actually get any of those for resale. I've raised a GC roo before... I will dig up pics of that chick for comparison. It makes sense tho, cause I kept thinking it...
Breeding Question!
I have two mille's -- Zippidydoodah (roo), and Peanut (hen).
They are in the same area as two turken hens, so I KNOW this is not one of their chicks (one of them lays a large brown egg, and the other a large green egg).
This chick hatched from one of Peanut's small light...
I would certainly ditch the guy with the bad attitude... that's not something worth breeding into your line.
I had a beautiful roo, but attacked me EVERY chance he got. No "sensitivity" training I tried worked on him.
I don't tolerate that kind of behavior... so, I no longer have a roo for my...
Hmm.... I think the runner is a girl then -- "she" makes all kinds of wacky noises, including a quack.
The khaki also makes lots of different noises...
I'll have to listen closely to the two buffs. I HOPE they're all girls. I don't really need a drake ... and one of the buff ducks has a bum hip...
I have five ducklings, two are about 4 weeks old, and three are about 3 weeks old.
Two buff ducklings: Male or female?
1 fawn runner: my guess is female...
1 crested white: Male or female?
1 khaki campbell: my guess is female...
You can see photos of all of them here, towards the bottom of the...
...egg allergies can often eat duck eggs without issue. I've read this same thing, but don't know if there's any "truth" behind it. I suppose it's possible ... people with cow milk allergies can often drink goat milk, right? *dunno* Anyway, I told her to consult her doctor before trying duck eggs.
Looks GREAT!! I want to do something similar to the inside of our crappy excuse for a barn. Nice job with all the framing inside.
I looked at your second page too, with the expanded selection of photos. Where did you get your netting? I've been looking for something large like that to cover my...

You've got some adorable babies, there! And great idea about the lid of the water container! My babies are in with 6 baby chickens right now, and they make such a mess with the water. I might have to try this idea out, too!
Congrats on your new babies... and be sure you thank your Pa LOTS ...
I'm wondering what the yellow ones are as well... just picked up two with this exact coloring today at TSC, but am not sure of the breed.
My *guess* is buff. I checked the Privett website to see what they might be carrying this year, but their site is worthless. As was the clerk at TCS.
