Does anyone have Blue Andalusians, Anconas, Silver Spangled Hamburgs?

I have just got my Blue Andalusions and they are very beautiful. If you are still looking, Diana and Larry at Coyote Ridge Ranch near Pozo (San Luis Obispo county) have some three month old ones, very healthy. They also have many other breeds of varying ages. [email protected]

Does anyone have Blue Andalusians, Anconas, Silver Spangled Hamburgs?

I am hoping to get some blue andalusions too, very excited, can't wait. I have heard they are small and active, lay white eggs and don't go broody. But they just look so pretty and unusual.

    Blue Andalusians

I am thinking of getting some - can anyone give me any information about the breed? In the selection of 8 week old pullets, what should I look for if I want to get the pale and laced variety?

    Tuberculosis in Chickens?

Well its a complicated story. At the end of October (3 months after starting to raise chicks) I was diagnosed with optic neuritis in one eye and possible MS. The short story is - $17000 later, after exhaustive tests (I don't have ins.) they still don't know what caused it and my eyesight has...

    Tuberculosis in Chickens?

Is it possible? I treated two pullets for some horrible respiratory problem a while back, I had to eventually cull them both, they were terribly sick and would probably have infected the other birds. I have just tested positive for TB for the first time in my life, hence the question. It seems...

    Do hens suffer from depression?

That's a sweet thought, not silly at all. Maybe the age difference is too big, maybe all the teenage chatter drives her crazy and she just wants some peace! I have just noticed that her poo is very green and watery with undigested bits of lettuce in it. She probably isn't used to so much...

    Do hens suffer from depression?

Unfortunately she's showing no interest in anything, not even treats. This afternoon she has been standing facing the tree trunk, her back to the world and the pullets...for three hours. Maybe I should take her back. I just keep thinking its just a question of time, but this is heartbreaking.

    Do hens suffer from depression?

I recently had to cull one of my pullets, a B.O, and a friend said I could have one of hers. We don't know how old she is but she is at least three years older than my 4 mo. old flock of five. She is probably pretty old and as far as I know has been in one flock all her life. So I plucked her...

What can I add to mash ? They don't like it.

Thanks for all the response, I will try wetting it. But I don't think that will work well in the cylinder feeder (don't know what you call it) it wouldn't be so likely to fall down into the dish as they eat it, maybe I should abandon that feeder. I would still love to try them on something else...

What can I add to mash ? They don't like it.

My four month old hens are not liking the growers mash and are wasting way too much, they just pick out the bits and leave the rest. What can I add, scratch, pellets, something with a bit more substance? Any advice? I am worried they may not be getting enough.

Terramycin - Help please, can't figure out the dose/measurement

As usual, the indications on the pack are very ambiguous, and all I have is a coffee scoop or kitchen spoons. This is a 4 month old hen with some kind of respiratory problem, very sick and getting worse. Any advice please.

Hen with snuffles and sick-looking - cold?

I don't think this is a cold. She makes a pathetic little gurgling noise when she breathes. She just stands, all ruffled up. Eats a few morsels of mash, not treats. Drinking minimally. Getting worse. I have given her pedialyte and polyvisol in the water. What can I do? Should I try Terramycin in...

Hen with snuffles and sick-looking - cold?

She's 4 months old, starting standing alone two days ago, yesterday eyes closed a bit. Not exactly coughing or sneezing, just snuffling, like she has mucous or some blockage. I will isolate her tomorrow and watch more closely. Should I give her some terramycin? I do have some. Any suggestions?

    Pecking Order

I agree with Spook. And, like you, I have just taken in a one yr. old Japanese bantam and added her to my flock of five 3 month old standard breeds. Even though they are babies in comparison, they are much bigger than her and I was worried they would pick on her....far from it! Bonsai, the...
