They made it to the Scranton distribution center and sat there all night. Now they just need to get to my local post office so I can get the call to pick them up.
I have to say tho, 48+ hours to go from OH to PA is pretty disappointing for an “express” service. It would take me 6 hours to drive...
I went thru Steel City Sheds. Their website is https://www.steelcitysheds.com/ tho I did most of my communication with them thru Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084791537026
They were very easy to work with. My only regret is not sticking with my original color scheme of...
Sigh. They spent most of yesterday sitting in a distribution center in Cleveland, OH. And most of today sitting in a distribution center in Philadelphia.
So close….
Not sure where you are at but I got a 8x12’ shed with metal roof, one window and chicken coop package (an external opening nest box) delivered for $2k.
The company that built the shed is located in OH and delivered it to me already built and good to go in PA.
I will say, looking at sheds more...
I would think the one you attach midway up your existing coop (would be shaped like a mirrored r) wouldn’t have the integral structural resilience given by the arch shape.
I would revert to putting two side by side like your n n example.
We need to get our deck replaced and have been working on clearing junk out from under/around it. There’s a nice sheltered spot that would get morning sun, especially in the winter when the trees are bare. Would be a good spot for a little aviary…..
This morning I was able to add a Swedish Flower Hen to my order to make it a nice round number of 12 chicks shipped!! I’ve wanted one of them since the hatchery first announced them.
So excited!! They hatch tomorrow!!
Ahh...I'm on the wrong side of the country to trust shipping chicks from CA sadly. I've had one bad experience going from just OH to PA. I'll have to look closer to home. I do want to get another one of these days.
My very first order had a Barnevelder and she was my original favorite. Cadbury...
Oh she’s pretty!! Im hoping some poofy head company for my remaining black crested Polish makes her happier.
Tho I will admit I was more wanting a mottled houdan over a cookies and cream. I don’t like heavily feathered feet and I know the cookies and cream can get them.
The first ones to get rehomed this year where my two brown leghorns. Batshit crazy doesn’t begin to describe them. But boy they were pretty and were good layers.
Oh trust me I've been tempted. The space constraints and prohibition against roosters has stopped me so far.
I started looking at quail and their housing needs tho...Just out of curiosity.
I started 2025 with 9 hens, close to the max my run will support as I'm limited on flat usable land and cant free range. I swore to myself no more chickens in 2025. I'm currently down to 3 of my OG hens due to rehoming chickens I didnt like/didnt fit with the flock.
I made the bad choice to...
The 25-30 week olds were hatched May-ish?
My first and second batches of chicks were hatched same time of year in 2023 and 2024. None of them really started laying until the days started lengthening again late winter/early spring.
Got another one today to add
