I just went out to check on Daisy and sadly she didn't make it. This all happened so quick that I have to believe that whatever I did was the best I could do for her and there was something more serious going on with her. She was happy and free ranging with her sisters 2 days ago :-( Thank...
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Her crop was squishy first thing in the morning so I massaged her and added acv to their water. That seemed to happen over night because she was fine the day before when I checked her crop. Her comb is flopped over and more purple now and she won't...
A couple of weeks ago my girl Daisy who is a barred rock was acting strange/lethargic and I noticed the tips of her comb were turning purplish. I separated her and gave her some water with acv and some garlic. She ate and had some meal worms as a treat and the next day her comb and demeanor...
I just had to bring mine to the vet to treat her crop impaction and sour crop. Keep massaging her crop a few times a day, make sure she gets plenty of water and some grit to help things move around and break up. I would switch to some scrambled eggs and olive oil..throw in some garlic to help...
Last week I brought my chicken Sierra to the vet for an impacted crop that wouldn't clear. Their was bacteria that was found so she was given antibiotics for 7 days. She was very under weight as well. She seemed to improve with antibiotics. But now she is walking off balance. Her legs seem...
I am pretty sure one of my girls has an impacted crop. I separated her 2 days ago after I noticed her crop was large one morning. When I picked her up to check her it was very hard feeling. I have been giving her water with olive oil and some poultry grit. I have been massaging her a few...
What was the feed called? Was it Mazuri by Purina? I just saw a Facebook post on this feed...a farmer in Texas lost around 180 birds after switching to that feed.
Anyways sorry for your losses :( I hope things go better with some new feed if that is the cause.
Aww poor baby. Sounds like you have done good so far. Once her head is healed a bit put her back with the ones she came with. Keep them separate from the big girls and introduce them slowly. Put whatever they are in now near the big girls coop/run so they can all see each other but can't...
I have had 2 broody hens and I just kept pulling them out of the nesting box. It is a pain and time consuming but you should keep up with it to break them of this. It took a few days for mine to finally give up lol
