Well its been almost 7 months and we finally have some eggs!!
We arrived home from vacation for 2 weeks and we had 2 eggs that day. First one was the small on, then the medium. The larger one is from the next day. Right now we have 4 hens laying the other 6 should soon follow suit I hope.
Our current status is 2 cockerels and 10 hens. we harvested the other 8 cockerels and they currently reside in the freezer.
The hens are a mix of 1 Easter egger, 2 barred rocks 2 Chanteclers nd 5 production reds, listed oldest to youngest. All are about 16-23 weeks old.
Still no eggs, We...
I harvested my cockerels yesterday. 7 birds are now in the fridge resting.
Here is the set up for the day
Killing cones worked great. This is the way to go.
I still don't believe fluff bug is a hen 100%. "She" has a different tail and stance than all the other pullets. I hope I'm wrong. A few pics of the out of the run.
Set back tonight. The original switch for the washer motor decided to crap out. The electrical on this is too complicated for me. I'm sending it out with a friend who hopefully can do a simple on off switch
