Thanks! I’ve made my husband put a safety hole in because I was too worried about it.
I’ve got 3 babies out now and just the two to go.
My toddler is absolutely in love already.
I’ve got 5 eggs in lock down. The first pip was yesterday morning. By yesterday evening 4/5 were pipped.
This morning they’re zipping but that one last egg who is still moving a bit (and seemed alive) still had not pipped yet. He’s got to be running out of air by now right?
Do I just leave it...
Yes. They have the same disposition as regular orpingtons, the only real difference is the English variety have much more fluff.
This picture is from when they were babies, but they are still lap chickens and love kids.
12 eggs (or 10+ extras) whatever sounds better to you.
The girls are laying their little butts off right now and we can’t hatch all of them for ourselves.
All eggs come in egg padding and priority 1-3 day (depending on your location) I ship eggs mon-thurs only to ensure your eggs don’t take...
This hatch has been a nightmare. 2 chicks out, 1 got stuck, the 2 who pipped the wrong end both got cling wrapped and needed an assist (one of those is out and one is still absorbing)
Another had zipped but then his beak got welded in somehow and he couldn't move his beak so I had to free him...
Removed the hatched baby since he was fluffed up. I've got 4 more pips. 2 are on the wrong end of the egg though. I can see movement so I'm going to leave them for a while longer before I mess with them.
First baby just popped it a moment ago! I can see one more pip so far.
Is the new baby trampling the eggs going to hurt my other eggs? As far as disorienting them?
Officially day 20 y'all! I candled before lockdown and everyone was moving around. When should I expect to start seeing some action?
It's been YEARS since I've hatched anything and can't remember if the action starts on day 20 or day 21.
We are just starting our flock again, we had jubilee before but moved so they all got rehomed.
My problem is that we free range everyone and I don't want to sell mix breed and take away from the hard work that's been put into both colors (the mottled and the jubilee) so we have to settle on...
