Thank you! The aviary is plenty big enough for them to fly about a bit, so 2 weeks or so shouldn't be a problem. I will make sure not to get homers- I actually have my eye on a foursome of beautiful spotted rock pigeons. They have been raised as pets/meat.
I may be getting some pigeons in the next couple of months (Yay!) and the aviary is still under construction. Its going to be lovely and big, with tons of perches and little feeding stations/etc. What's everyone's take on free ranging adult birds that were not raised on the premises? How long...
So there is a man that was at pretty much every swap I went to, when I was going previously (haven't attended one in nearly 2 years) who always had alot of birds. Quail, ducks etc. and pheasants. Does anyone know if he still attends these swaps? I'd love to purchase more fowl from him. Older...

I could use a male myself
I have a rosetta breeding male, would you be interested? I'd give him to you, I have no use. He's very sweet and tame as well.
For the swap on the 28th; looking for some Coturnix quail, anyone have some? Possibly another breed as well. My flock has officially shrunk to the point where I have an excuse to buy more
I have a cage of four mature Coturnix roosters, about 3'L by 2'W by 3'H in y basement for the winter. As long as they can't hear any females, they're fine they have full light and everything.. the guy I got them from sold them to me like that, all together, so they're probably hatchmates. I...
^^ yes, it's different every day! I have an old rabbit nest box that they lay in every time, but before I had that they just laid wherever the first hen had laid the first egg of the day. There were little piles of eggs in different places nearly every day!
yup, just de-wing de-foot and BAM throw 'em on the grill and enjoy! I just kinda pull it apart (they are usually REALLY tender) or if I'm feeling dainty, I just kinda rip it up with two forks does that make me sound uncivilized?
cats- Waaaaayyy easier! just throw 'em some cat food and kick 'em outside during the day!
Dogs- about the same. Of course, I've just got two farm dogs, veeery low maintinence (i think I spelled that wrong the spelling thing on my computer's auto-fix is all glitched up )

wow, just wanna say AWESOME setup
For a cage would 2' wide 8' long work or 3' wide 6' long work and how tall should it be?
both those sizes would work and it should be about 2" tall, that way they won't hurt themselves. Even when they can't fly, they can still jump really high. They...
