guess you hate seeing ya chickens eat bugs then huh?
Oh, no, that's just good quality family entertainment:lol: BUT that bug is not my child's pet. The mouse scooped up by the hawk was the child's pet. It wasn't the mouse's injury I was concerned over, but the child's emotional injury, at...
There's even a vid that's played on planet's funniest home videos for years of a kid sitting right next to his pet mouse with it on top of the carrier and it gets scooped up.
WHY, WHY, WHY would that be shown on Planet's Funniest Videos? THAT'S NOT FUNNY!! like all those crotch shots, and...
WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! Jemima has (at last check) 4 babies, 1 almost completely zipped, and 5 eggs doing nothing so far!!
Jemima is a blue swede, Daffy is a black, so far 2 babies are black and 2 are blue. Can't wait to see if anyone has Daffy's crest.
I'll post pics when I can, but it won't be till...
be careful! the "so sweet" stray pit mix that we had hanging around here last week, made off with my favorite layer Thursday! She was a sweet dog, got along with everyone, played nice with the dogs/kiddos/cats... likes chicken too:mad:
GGGGGGGRRRRRRR We've not had dog issues for quite a while. While dh and ds were out with the dog, my dogs heard a dog barking and wanted out. They came back in after a bit. Dh got home and said that there was a chow at the end of the driveway with an orange collar. GRRRRRRR again. Fortunately...
we've had a stray hanging around here for the last few days. Our neighbor next door said that she belonged across the street. This evening I came home from grocery shopping to find said dog run under the neighbor's barbed wire fence, and across the street with one of my bsl pullets in her...
i lost my 6 week old layers that way. they were soaked and got cold. i was able to save half by blow drying them back to life.
I think that might have been it-- they were all in a pile in the ONLY puddle in the run, but in the corner that some of them like to sleep in. Maybe the tried to huddle...
we're getting rain!!! PTL, it's a nice, slow, steady rain. We desparately need it. It rained all night, and should continue through the day.
HOWEVER, this year's chickens have never seen rain, and I had a pile of "drowned rats" this morning. More specifically, my 4 wo cc's we lost 10 of the 39...
we had a turkey truck overturn last wednesday. I heard it on the radio on the way to church. I debated with myself about going and seeing if there were any running about, but didn't. We went by the area a few days ago, and it was still littered with feathers.
I was going to say, that I bet it's a double yolker. One of mine layed me one last week--how egg-citing! My bo's seem to be the first to start laying (even before the bsl's). Someone is laying a very dark brown egg. Not as dark as a marans's, but I have bo's, bsl's, 1 slw, and 1 delaware. So...
WOW! Beautiful country! My ancestors came from Wales-- not Quakers though, Puritans I think, or the like. Our closest city, where dh works, we shop and go to church, was founded by Quakers. There isn't a large Quaker population, and no active meeting house. The old meeting house is still there...
That's something else too, they almost totally ignore the baby (she's 18 mos). She's a little unsure of them-- she'll sometimes get the nerve to toddle up and barely touch them --they usually get up and move somewhere else. They play with the big kids (13, 9, and 4), but not the baby.
ETA: my...
Chaising the cat out of the yard is something you have probably praised her for in the past, and she wants to please you because she respects you;
That is exactly what we thought. Just wanted to make sure we weren't doing something wrong.
I've never heard or read that nudging your hand for...
...the birds. She is just fine with them when we aren't outside, but as soon as we go out, she chases them.
Also, they fight over the food, and the *premium* spot under baby's highchair. How do I get them to stop, or do they need to establish a "pecking order"?
OH, Sparkie is a 5 yo...
"just over the border" is a good 2 hour drive-- I wouldn't want to spend the gas$$
I always order from Meyer, and haven't had any problems. I don't know for certain that they have the birds you want. I don't know what cinnamon queens are nor cherry eggers. I don't know right off if they have...
