I know what color eggs they lay. 4 of my chicks hatched while I was gone for the day, and since I didn't see them hatch, I don't know which chick came from which egg.
Wow, thanks. When you say the chick will have white/ yellow skin, does that mean half black/half white feet and beak are possible or juat white? I am seeing half black, half white feet and beaks on some chicks and wondering if the Buff Brahma, or not. Thanks
Yes, that would solve it for me. Unfortunately, I haven't matched egg with each mother yet. Also, multiple chicks keep hatching at the same time in the middle of tge night, so I don't know which is from which egg.
I just hatched this chick in the incubator from a fertilized bantam egg found in my coop. I know the dad is likely my white Silkie rooster. I'm not sure who the mom is. Some ideas are my Opal Legbar hen or my Buff Laced Polish hen, Red Dorking Bantam hen, or Belgian D' Uccle hen.I'm leaning...
How lucky that you have mostly pullets! You have a good hatch rate from there if you had 50%...she told me to expect a 30-40% if they are shipped. Maybe picking them up improves that hatch rate. Which breeds did you get?
Yes! I received 5 Blue Ridge Jumbo quail and 3 Celadon quail on April 23, just 1 day after the planned ship date. As she said she would do on the website, I got 3 different color varieties of Celadon quail, and each are so pretty. Unfortunately, I lost one this week to a neck injury....possibly...
I am unable, while using my Nurture 360, to get the humidity lower than about 60-64% and it has been this way for days. I have tried keeping the lid slightly open a crack on one end, which pulls it down to 49% ( more normal). Is it okay to just proceed this way until the machine goes up to 65%...
I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but I've noticed that different breeds of roosters' crows can be more frequent/ annoying than others, so maybe research this? I have 2 Silkie roosters or different color varieties whose crows are both extremely high pitched and frequent. One...
I am currently in SW Virginia and contemplating a move to South Texas with my flock, which includes about 10 Marans, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 Sapphire Gems. Can these cold-hardy breeds do okay in hot climates? If so, what do you do to keep them cool? Thanks
Thank you! I just figured out the cause of the high humidity: my pet sitter filled the 1st and 2nd water compartments, which shouldnt both be filled until lockdown. I drained the 2nd one and humidity is going down.
