Good to know. My other chicks at this age were pretty much fully feathered. So I was like what is going on? Haha

Just saw your post, definitely too early in that photo you posted.. I’d wait another week and repost updated photos!

    When do you KNOW know?

People in here are pretty good at telling the sex of the chick. Should post them in the gender thread :) but I feel pretty confident between 6-7 weeks to know- 8-9 to be safe on questionable ones! Longer though for certain breeds like Olive eggers where you don’t know what you’ll get lol.

5 week old Japanese Bantams. Both boys??

So we have 2x 5 week old jap bantams. I’m pretty sure both are boys, but please confirm? Photo 1-2 is first chick (unsure, but slow feathering to me says boy. But comb isn’t as prominent as second so not sure) Photo 3-4 is second chick (pretty confident boy)

I bought these and were told they were Olive Eggers

They can look like a mix for sure. They all do look Oe to me. I have an OE right now that looks like my Marans but adds tuff on her head! It’s hilarious. Pic from weeks ago- but blue arrow is my Marans, white arrow is my Oe

    Lost some chickens today :(

Thank you for your comment! The owner of the dogs has said their fence has been reinforced, however I have out a report into our council. My partner has redone our fencing and it should hopefully deter any further attempts.. As for contacting our breeders - I have contacted the lady I got...

    Lost some chickens today :(

Thank you for the kind words. The surviving girls are in shock still but are finally eating. They’ve remained locked up in our coop - with food and water. None want to leave, which is fair enough. I did post about our Cochin in the thread section you mentioned. No visible wounds but limping...

    Injured chicken after dog attack.

Hey all, So a couple days ago I posted in another forum about a dog attack (well, 3 dogs) where unfortunately 5 of our chickens died. One was very injured in the attack. No blood. But is limping significantly. She’s not a small girl either -(she’s a Cochin. So big girl). She’s been kept quiet...

    Lost some chickens today :(

We are in Aus, I’m assuming you’re in America hence the coon reference? We have roaming dog laws so they can be held liable with court fees etc. not what we plan to do. But it is something they can have against them. Thanks!

    Lost some chickens today :(

Today we lost some of our chickens. 3 dogs broke in, damaged some fencing and took the lives of 5 of our girls. Injured a further 2 and the remaining 5 (including the injured ones) are all in shock. I posted in our local fb group looking for the dogs, with only brief descriptions and their...

They look like OEs to me. We have some and the lady we get ours from has some that look like yours. OEs are just a hard one as you never know what they’ll really look like. Depends what they’ve used to create their OEs too. You definitely look to have 2 boys vs 1 girl tho.

    Sweet baby. Breed suggestions?

Just thought I’d add some more photos of her. No comb still that I can see or feel! Is that normal? lol,
