So I've been doing research, and I think I've found it. Both parents are natural coloured mallards, but he's different. He hatched out yellow instead of the brown with dark stripe like his siblings. Is he a silver Mallard or is this just a colour fault??
Could be the same, if they work the same as mallard. We bred two mallards. Got a yellow. He grew up with same colouring, just white lacing.
However could be a different breed as well
From what I know veins equals alive. You'll know if it's dead if it has a solid ring around it (blood ring). At 3 weeks you should be seeing movement from the chick as well
I put amaraucana. I would put Easter egger up next, but I would not go silkie, it might have just been where they came from, but I had way to many issues with them
Rarest we have would be Black Minorca, or corronation Sussex?? I don't know, are they rare?? I haven't seen many people with these breeds/colours of breeds
Yeah, the same thing happened with my mallards just last year, he grew up with normal colouring, just with white around each feather.
I think it might just be a rare genetic thing
I just found another site, that said not to pull the dead looking scales off, because the skin underneath is tender
If someone else has anymore info on this please give some more info...
I have never had it occur (as I do it a different way) but from what I just looked up, they will fall off after scaly leg mite, and new scales will grow back, you just need to make sure they are kept clean
