Limping wyandotte - how do I help her lose weight?

Hi all, I have a 4yo Wyandotte who has developed a limp over the past few months that this week has become pretty bad and stopped her from jumping off her perch in the morning. She has always been a big bird definitely on the heavier side around 8 or 9 lbs. Though helping her off the perch...

Silver laced wyandotte getting double laced feathers

Hi everyone, I have a silver laced wyandotte who turns 1 in a few days. She is just coming out of her first moult, and we are noticing that all the new feathers on her back are double laced! I have attached some pictures from before her moult and now. I have done some research by I can't find...

    HELP!!! Extremely noisy chickens!

I had a similar problem with a very noisy RIR, who we couldn't bear to get rid of - she had everything she could possibly want (food, water, snacks, entertainment) and she wouldn't shut up. We eventually figured out that the more we went outside, the more she moaned because she could see us. We...

Entry 2: Rosie (again) - 6 months old in the photo. She is so sweet and will come running to the back door if she hears you coming out, and will sit on your back and pick any leaves or bits out of your hair <3

HELP! Her neck was stuck on the hinge

It’s unfortunate really, We are just heading into spring now (in aus). We don’t really have the space for any more than a few more chickens, but had she gone broody in maybe a few months time we would have given her some fertile eggs and given the chicks to the ag club at school, as they want...

HELP! Her neck was stuck on the hinge

yes, we are very lucky she wasn’t up there for too long. Ahh we would love to let her hatch, but we are still getting the hang of this whole chicken thing (no pun intended 😂)

HELP! Her neck was stuck on the hinge

Sure, here are a couple of photos…. Generally she gets the whole space but the others wanted to lay so we put the divider in so they could go.

HELP! Her neck was stuck on the hinge

She will eat her normal feed mixed with water so it’s more of a paste type thing. When we lift her out of the nesting box she will sit all puffed up on the ground for a minute or so, and then she will get up and have a scratch around for maybe 10 mins, and then peg it back to the nest box.

Ok, I just had a feel of her neck, and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary however I can see a scratch/cut type thing on the top of her beak. Could that mean anythjng?

injured? shocked? thinking about being broody?

Hi, one of our girls has been sitting in the nest box pretty much all day for the past few days and eating very little. So about a week ago I went out to shut the girls away and our SLW had her neck caught in the hinge of the gate. She kicked and managed to flap off as I went outside and she...

HELP! Her neck was stuck on the hinge

Thanks so much for your help. She is doing much better, however for the past few days she has just sat in the nesting box. We have tried giving her mushed up food (we mixed it with water and left it to absorb), but she isn't much a fan of this. She will eat some yoghurt, and this afternoon we...
