    Very informative!! I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread and this post since my rooster (this is my first flock) is just now starting to try to "do the deed". I knew he was inexperienced, thus the clumsiness...just didn't know what else I need to keep an eye on as he and the pulletts mature...

    I think the super fleas are coming from us using so many chemicals...the toughest of the toughest have bred and become immune to the chemicals, kind of like bacteria and worms. Just my 2 cents. I will say that my mutt has less fleas since I started leaving her outside. She waddles in the sand...

    Score!! It's hard for me to believe what people will put on the side of the road.....Perhaps you could screw some hardwire or something across a part of the opening to make it just big enough for the chickens...or maybe you could take the top off, turn the bottom upside down and have 2 covers...

    Just wondering how you do your jerky....we use the newfangled dehydrater. I'm hoping you have some old timey way of doing it and can school me.

    I don't own turkeys, but a friend of mine who does said that her tom will try to mate her chicken hens sometimes??? ETA: Just throwing things out there.

    Losing a chicken is frustrating enough, and it's even worse when you can't figure out why so as to try to avoid another.

    I must say, from what I can tell from looking at this pic, the poor thing looks a lot like the first roo I came home to....the one that DH told me my pup got a hold of...so my guess would be predator. Sorry for your loss.

    Beautiful dogs!! My brother had a GP who would roam....and roam.....and roam. His name was Sam. Friends would call him anytime to let him know of the latest sam sighting. Brother couldn't figure out why he roamed so much. I said it was because he needed a "job". DB thought I was crazy!!
