    15 week old walks funny

I have been feeding 22% game bird feed but just started that recently. Before that it was the regular layer feed. There is always oyster shell available in the coop. I give scratch and sunflower seeds for treats daily. Every now and then I give them scrambled eggs or yogurt or leftovers. I...

    15 week old walks funny

I have a 15 week old Buckeye pullet that walks really funny, kind of like she is somewhat crippled or something. She hobbles along and then she sits. She never just stands she walks a little then sits. I did not notice her doing it until the last couple of weeks. She seems to be ok...

Do Dogs and Chickens EVER mix??

I have three Yorkies and they are hilarious with the chickens. Sometimes the dogs chase the chickens and sometimes the chickens chase the dogs. When I throw scratch out or put yogurt out for the chickens the dogs try to get it and they get pecked and the chickens eat, they they bark at the...

Use my loss as your wake up call

You all might consider this really over the top but I am glad I did it because I sleep very well at night not worrying about my chickens. When I built my coop I lined the INSIDE of the walls, floor and ceiling with 1/8 inch hardware cloth before I put on the plywood over it. The holes were so...

    Help Convincing Parents!

I think it is overall really, really good. That being said, I do think there are some parts that come off as a little sarcastic. You would probably word it a little more nicely. Also, just for your info so you know what you are getting into, chicken poo can be really nasty to clean every day...

November 22: "Hatch Finished" Now with PIC'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a banty sitting on 9 eggs that should hatch on the 23. Only one of them is hers. I have a similar problem in that all of the other hens try to leg eggs in her box with her. I have to try to remember which were there so I can pick out the extras every day.

Ask anyone on this site........you will love the chickens and want more. If I were you, and you are not using the shed for anything else, I would make it one big chicken coop. Everyone on here will tell you the one wish they had was that they would have built a bigger coop. You have a great...

can you help me with my poo/roost prob?!?!

I have dropping boards under my roosts even though I am using the deep litter method because I have a lot of chickens in a small space. It works because my chickens only sleep in the house and just a couple hang out in there during the day. I have 4 10' roost with two high, a board separating...

A good way to keep your hens out of the nestboxes at night

I have hinged folding down boards that act as ledges for the nesting boxes during the day and fold up to cover the holes at night. I didn't design it that way originally but got really tired of picking the poop out of the boxes every morning so I took the ledges I had on off and added the hinges.
