    Maybe a stupid question, but here goes. When you do an eggtopsy on an egg, how do you know if the chick was actually alive or had passed days prior?

    Are my chicks too young to start on the horizontal nipplers? I started them on them yesterday. Will they learn how to use them and get enough water? If I go to push on it, they all flock to it like they are dying of thirst!

    My humidity went up to 75% when chicks started hatching. I think the hardest thing for me was to have a huge run of chicks hatch and then have to sit in the lull when it slowed down and do nothing. But that's really what needs to be done.     After my hatching experience over the last couple of days, I'd suggest just watching and leave them alone. I'd really try not to open your incubator until they have all hatched or until you had to.

    I am up north. So any eggs I get that are still warm from the hen are brought in and I just set them egg carton containercontainers on my kitchen counter.

    Thank you for all that you posted. I read through it, but to fully grasp it, i will probably have to read it 3-4 times. Lol! Until then, you are correct that my rooster is an EE. I have 2 gold laced wyandotte hens. I believe that my EE roo has a rose comb.

    22 did. Including the one I thought was dead. I have one left that just seems a bit weak. Not sure if he/she will be strong enough to finish.
