Yes, I have seen this happen...the blue attracting unwanted attention.
Plus blue kote camouflages wounds so it's hard for a keeper to monitor healing and/or infection.
Great!
You only need to add an inch or so.
You don't want to have it too deep with freshly chipped tree limbs,
especially if there are leaves mixed in as it can cause a toxic mold/fungus bloom.
Best bet IMO is to use coarse wood chippings in the run.
If you have space to store a truckload they are usually free from a tree trimmer, then you can add a few inches at a time as needed.
2 truck loads:
On the walls?
Is it really a problem?
If it really bothers you you could use a leaf blower to take most of it down....and maybe toss a few shovel fulls of snow over the bedding in the run to dampen thing a bit.
Hard to say.
If all the other layers are fine, laying 'good' eggs, acting fine(eating, drinking, pooping, moving around OK), then it's probably just that one birds problem.
Best thing to do is keep it simple, feed nothing but a good ration(the oyster shell on the side is good), fresh clean water...
I dunno<shrugs> google it? Can probably have it delivered tho :D
Does this mean you will get rid of all your other males, and the ones that will hatch? Breeding means a lot of culling. Will you also buy an incubator?
After a half inch of rain overnight the air has been filled with snow...
