Thanksgiving tom tukey! Broad breasted bronze

Going to have to pull the auction. One of the turkeys (we had two, one to sell and one to keep) was attacked by something and we had to dispatch him this morning as one of his wings was torn off. They go to roost in a coop at night but roost on the ground. Sorry guys.

Thanksgiving tom tukey! Broad breasted bronze

Well tried to upload pictures, will try again later! 7-8 month old broad breasted tom turkey, has been free-range. LARGE bird, around 35-40lbs right now. Ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Wouldn't want him as a pet, I don't think, large legs and large bird. We could possibly process for you, would...

10 or so week old silkie cockeral

Cute guy, very easy going. He does have an extra toe on his left foot, but 5 on the other. We are located in SWVA, close to NC and at this time, I can't ship....but would be happy to meet up! Please PM, do not hit buy it now.

    Sexing a turkey

Just an update here--this turkey's head looks the same except there are more feathers, no elongating snood and no gobble yet. IT does have a little beard though. I guess I'll keep waiting--I'm planning on getting a handful of poults in the spring and I hope I'm able to sex them earlier than a...

Coming 2 yr old with an undescended.. adult part..when should I worry?

Well....my years of experience in the horse AND large animal veterinary field say probably never. Give him until the warmth of spring, sometimes they'll come down then. Otherwise, it's likely cryptorchid surgery for this colty.

    Not vegetarian but...

I have been thinking along the same lines. Good for you--maybe I'll get to the point you are someday.

    Horse With Botulism?

Er, I work in a large animal clinic, horses full-time. It's possible that he WILL continue to go downhill.....IF he has botulism. I'd definately make him some slurries of food that he can eat more easily. I'd be suspicious of any other neurologic disease as well. Any of the encephalomyelitis'...

    Squirrel Pot Pie

Hmm I might even be able to eat this. I'm not crazy about the taste of fur-bearers, but this I might can do.

    Sexing a turkey

I don't know what I have. I do wonder why the snood isn't bigger and we've got no gobbles yet. It's pretty large--if it's a hen it's upper end size-wise for the BRs from what I've read. It probably weighs 12 or 13 lbs or something like that. I guess we will wait and see. It still rarely...

    Sexing a turkey

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm still neutral about what sex s/he is but I'm curious since it does have qualities of both male and female. I have played ringtones for it, my other turkey gobbles alot and we make plenty of loud noises. No attempts at gobbling. It mainly just walks...

    Sexing a turkey

This turkey still looks the same, no gobble, occasional strut but the snood never elongates. Around 8 months or so now? Can it still be a tom if it doesn't look like one yet?

    Goats will not gain weight

Could you post a picture of them? Some dairy goats DO look "skinny", no matter what.

B/B/S quad of modern game bantams, 1 roo 3 hens

Sorry! I just am not shipping savvy! Most of the babies hatched were splashes and I had a couple of blues; the only MG I'm keeping is a little blue pullet who is such a little pet. I LOVE these birds, but I need to try to get down to a more manageable number!

What is your "favorite" large breed of dairy goat?

Lamanchas are the way to go (I raise both registered Lamanchas and Nubians, but I'd trade most of my Nubians for LaManchas in a HEARTBEAT, if they didn't sell so much better).

Found chick in road..help with ID

Get a friend, don't worry about babies, eat the eggs! Coturnix don't go broody (or I'll say it's extraordinarily rare if they do). I LOVE my quail eggs, much better than chicken eggs, just small.

B/B/S quad of modern game bantams, 1 roo 3 hens

Beautiful quad of modern game bantams. The roo is a blue splash, and is dubbed. There are two blue girls, and one black. The black is this spring's hatch, the other three are a year and a half. For MGBs, they laid really well over the spring and summer, and fertility was great. They're...

    A little different scenario....

I'm a licensed vet tech, and we're both well aware the costs of euthanising things both large and small via veterinarian.... Yes, he knows what he does for a living. These are "different", to him. We're still discussing this. He has a friend at work who may provide a safe-haven for them, he's a...
