time i checked in.
38F this morning. good start to the day .
we ended up with 30.7 inches of snow. i had no trouble plowing. my neighbor plows for us. he didn't bring the bobcat with tracks on it, this time.
he brought one of the big Internationals with 4WD and a huge bucket. heplowed each day...
yes, eat them or incubate them
when i had a lot of turkeys, i couldn't keep up with the eggs. finally i had dozens of them in the fridge
I finally scrambled about six at a time in my iron frying pan. i had a stack of about ten .
i fed them to the chickens . one a day.
]turkeys will lay about one...
well Barb, at least you got your moneys worth out of Carolyn this time. maybe you might have to find a new unsuspecting person.
at 5am it is 36 degrees. good start to the day .
if it gets real warm, maybe the snow will slide off of the roofs. a couple of years ago i built a sort of lean to roof...
i thought i was the master destroyer of apple trees. once i grafted one and it was doing very well until one winter i was plowing snow and slid into it with the tractor.
this will be the third season since i planted the pear tree. i don't know how it is doing. the deer herd has been hanging out...
good morning.
snowing and blowing again
yesterday the neighbor came with his huge tractor and loader. the snowbank is as hight as the eaves on the chicken coop. he will have to come again after the recent snow is done.
Lisa, that is quite the gaggle of geese you have
I am jealous.
yesterday i...
welcome to the winter wonderland
hard to tell how much snow we have because it is blowing. looks likemore than 8 or 9 inches.
we are satisfied to look out at it. no plans to go anywhere anyhow.
had Brenda feed the cat extra to tide him over for a couple of days. she brought me plenty of...
good morning before the storm
we are expecting at least 12"
we had almost 8" yesterday . the neighbor was here before noon and plowed us out.
i plan on using the tractor bucket as usual to move the tubs. only i am going to scoop a lot of the dirt into 5 gal pails . those i can lift...
yea, I guess you are right. i was having a bad day and just feeling sorry for myself. I think today will be better.
ran out of tylenol and was taking the generic.
they can say what they want, they are NOT the same.
also the lemonade mix Brenda used tastes like dish water. i think it is outdated...
yes, i have tested a few electric fences. something i am not supposed to do with my defibulator. the dr doesn't want me to even run a chain saw or work aruund my power shop machines. i might as well just curl up and die. lol
thank you, I wasn't looking for sympathy, just a FYI
tried out the new when stone. sharpened two of the many kitchhen knives. gives me something to do.
I typed up a long fyi to my sisters and a handful of friends. naturally, it won't send. i hate to have to rewrite it.
we have a small kitchen...
4am and i am up already
i guess we dodged the snow as long as we could.
here's the update from us two.
i had ablation on the back of my neck. the left side was done first. it hurt like hell.
a week later i had the right side done.
when i rolled off of the operating table onto the guerney, my...
29F winter is not giving up yet
snow is forecast
Barb. if you are going to have the goslings in the garage, they will need heat protection from the concrete more so than the air. a good layer of straw/hay will take care of that.
i have had chickens with chicks out on nearly frozen ground. they...
hi this will be short
somehow i got dropped off of the auto mail
took me a half hour to figure out how to get it.
i don't know how to sign up for the auto mail.
the second ablation went well. i am still hurting a lot from the first one.
let's see how this one goes.
the ablation went well. the imediate after affects not so much. no real pain, just an uncomfortable feeling in the neck. next tuesday i go in to have the right side done. so far , i still have the pain on my head. not real severe, just enough to be uncomfortable.
tylenol doesn't help much...
I don't remember eating kolorabi. my mom used to put something like a turnip is stew. it was kind of orange. i hated it. she called it rutabagee.
maybe as an adult i would like it, but i figure . why take the chance..
the only bird i ever worried about freezing their feet were the Muscovies...
i don't mind paying the locals a little extra for eggs
i know what it costs to produce them.
there is more to it than just the feed.
my big chicken coop is now filled with junk that should really be tossed away. lol
I am about the same latitude as Deb. same kind of winters. some times I used to supply heat. I had thermo cubes. they turned on at 30F and off at 40F
i used them mainly to keep the water from freezing. i used an electric heater. pointed it directly at the waterer. it kept it just barely from...
i took yesterday off from byc. something clicked and they wanted me to "join up", that happens every so often.. P's me off. then it hits me with pop ups, more irritants.
Kalib straightened it all out for me.
i just had a "conversation" with Annie. "asked" her to stay the hell out of the...
good morning
how did you all like the new snow?
the neighbor plowed us out. we had all the cars moved out of the way so he could just breeze through without dodging around vehicles. he did a great job. all we had to do was shovel the ramp into the house. i didn't notice any drifting. this...
Barb. Annie fell twice/ a few weeks ago she slipped on the ice near the garage/ got bruised up pretty badly/ she was on pain meds that made her balance not so good/ then she was moving around without a cane or walker and lost her balance/ fell/ i called 911 and they took her to the ER/ found a...
