Broody Goose but no eggs. Help!

I've got 3 Pomeranian geese (all female, so none of the eggs are fertile) all sharing a nest. I was able to get some Chinese geese eggs, but after 40+ days nothing hatched. I was able to slip in and pull the eggs to candle. They were all duds. Well, the girls are still sitting on an empty...

Why do you have the breeds you do?

At the moment I have, breeding age; barred rock, brown leghorn, mixed Pheonix, dark Brahma, mottled Java, white Cochin bantam, Millie Fleur booted bantam, buff Brahma bantam, and Japanese bantam. In the chick brooders I have barnyard mix, several color varieties of bantam Cochin, porcelain and...

Thoughts on Beilefelder as a good exhibition breed???

I am considering getting rid of my Delaware line. They have been very frustrating. It seems that what I thought was decent breeder stock turned into standard hatchery stock. I keep getting excessive body spotting and white legs. The chicks start out beautiful white with bright yellow legs. As...

Can you cross breed a Guinea?

Ok, before you answer let me explain. My Guinea hen's mate died late last summer and she has been on her own. Since, they are very social creatures she joined my mixed chicken coop. It has gone quite well and she seems to be thriving. Fast forward to Spring and she calls constantly for a mate...

These two appear to be the same breed. I am just not sure which breed. Clean legs, black body, reddish face.

    Missing albums! Please help

No, they were upload from my computer/phone directly to an album. The ones I shared in past posts can be found by going through my posts 1-by-1. All my named albums and their picture are completely gone. My "Default" album is gone also.

I will take that into consideration, thank you.

    why do you keep chickens?

I raise chickens because I am glutton for the punishment they dish out every Spring, when 40+ hens, roosters, ducks, and one turkey eat 600lbs of feed in one month, lay eggs for one week then decide to go broody (but only after you have sold or eaten all the eggs from the one week of laying)...

Does anyone have any white peafowl hatching eggs available, for sale? I have been wanting peafowl for a long time and solid white is the color I like best.

    Faverolles Thread

I am working with a rooster for poultry exhibition. He will be a year old in August. He would have been ready for a spring show, but my Salmons got it into their head to eat their leg feathers. The rooster has quite recovered his leg feathers and is getting into top form again. I like his look...

    Faverolles Thread

She is definitely one I would NOT use in a dedicated breeding program. The lack of breed standard features is usually caused by either cross breeding or careless breeder selection. Her bloodline most likely comes from large hatchery stock. Even though she isn't breed standard she should still...

    Any guesses??

My m-i-l picked up this little black and yellow chick out of the pullet bin at TSC a while back. Well, first it isn't a pullet and we don't have a clue what breed either. Any guesses?
