My darling has bumble foot I think

Thank u so MUCH 🥰 Daddy and I will do more research and set up a safe 'surgical' bay. I hope we can relax him enough. I hate all these things happening to the sweetest animals. Not that any animal deserves or should have injury or illness, but chickens just get some of the worst things.

    Tonic Mobility, Catontonia, Sleeping?

U know we really want to. But my heart can't handle the loss again. I was hospitalized after the last hen was attacked. I want him to be happy, he's such a gentleman, is there such a thing as conjugal visits?

    Tonic Mobility, Catontonia, Sleeping?

We rescued a 🐓 at 7 weeks old, who had been with no human interaction. He has always been a good 🐓 to his 🐔, but they have all died. He cried for weeks afterwards. Very clingy, depressed behavior😢. He would stand by our vehicles with his shoulders slumped and let out sad cries. I gave him as...

    Chicken sneezing, nose crusty, help!

I am looking on BYC for the same reason. But when I do beg for others wisdom, there is some advice I don't always agree with. Esp culling birds. There r some idiots, jerks, creeps, losers, and lowlifes on all websites. And when I ask for help, I do expect there will be some snarky comments...

SWOLLEN INTESTINES AND CONSTANT FILTHY BUTT

Thank you, Kathy. Its very hard for people who don't have fowl to realize how INTENSE our love and devotion is to them. They aren't food for us, and many BYC folks. And even if they are food, the birds personality and antics are a thrill!

    CAN SINGLE HEN SURVIVE?

We have only been raising hens for 3 years. Everything we have learned is by BYC or real life experience. We are NOT experts. This is my opinion. We started out with 4 newborn pullets. They were a close and loving flock. Except, one became 'the rooster'. Eventually, 3 of the girls died...

SWOLLEN INTESTINES AND CONSTANT FILTHY BUTT

It turned out our girl was VERY sick. We had her put down at the vet. It broke our hearts, but she was not getting better after all that veterinarian intervention. She had an egg that went outside the tract. It was not seen on any of the diagnostic tests the vet did. He did a free autopsy...

What to do with a single hen?

I really liked the suggestion of bringing her closer to your home, garage, or similar. We lost 5 of our girls in less than a year. We have one 3 year old left. She gets plenty of sun where we live, and I think somehow that helps. She gets treats all her own. She has one on one time with us...

BEST BREEDS FOR SMALL BACKYARD FLOCK AS PETS

We are looking for a girl that has bantam version, very docile/gentle, and can deal with extreme Southern California heat. They will have shade, but I don't want them too hot. NOT for meat, and egg-laying isn't important.

    Buying Baytril - Buyer Beware

I just paid $30 for one bird for a small injectable of Baytril. Knowing that it was the right dosage for her was WORTH every penny.

SWOLLEN INTESTINES AND CONSTANT FILTHY BUTT

I looked at that. Today when we bathed her bottom, her upper part of her vent looked loose and prolapsed. Never a day without worry with these girls.
