Not poultry/livestock, etc. but we all love birds. <3 I've been trying to re-find something in the news a few months back on discoveries related to either toucan or hornbills--I believe it was "fringe-tongued toucans?" I was hearing that the tongue is so sensitive that the bird only needs to...
My daughter's Barnevelder cockerel pounced on and swallowed one of these before she could grab it... :-o He was maybe 3, 4 mos old at the time--that was 3 years ago, and he seems just fine. She never saw it pass or anything. I was told the crop can grind anything down in time. ::shrug!::
Been loving on Seramas and OEGBs but, well...they're ALL chickens! :D Whatever breed we decide to go with, we want about 3 hens and 2 roos. Specifically 2 roos because one will live a cushy life on the back of our couch with special window-wallering sunlight privileges and limited access to the...
Thinking Serama thoughts :D Any breeders in the upstate? I'm in Campobello now. Got a line on a hatchery in Cowpens but they seem to specialize in frizzle and silky Seramas. Just looking to start simple. :)
I perscribed!

I would have had 7 stashed away altogether to try pickling but I wigged out yesterday and hard boiled all 5. :drool NOM! *Granny has no egg self-control*
Cricket's 2 mos now. I had better pictures but when I blew the data limit on my phone--which I didn't know I had--3 of the yucky ones were sent. :rant So this is really just for fun. :) 2 weeks ago, about 20 folks guessed "pullet"...is Cricket still a pullet?
I love turkeys as much as I love chickens but blackhead has me scared. My bestie keeps saying "don't do it," and I won't until I get this blackhead thing figured out. I've read posts suggesting that people check info on their area to see if it's present, but after reading it might also...
Been poking around at info about them on the interwebz. :) I believe it all started when I was snooping pics from @rjohns39 :D Please post your photos of these lovely birds!
Also a wee question: I keep reading that these are considered ornamental birds and not a primary choice for meat...
