Hey! I have 0 ducks. This one just showed up today. I don't know anything about ducks. What kind is it and can you tell the sex? I am concered for my hens. I don't want a male duck trying to breed with my chickens. So far its been quite and is hanging out with the chickens I think it's trying...

Give me the goods on Turkeys!

Thank you. I wonder if I can find adult females that need a home... I do want them to be friendly but I definitely do not want them attempting to land on my shoulder. I do not mind a lap turkey though. Do you know how difficult it would be to introduce an adult to a flock of chickens? I do have...

Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Hi! Life is busy! My son got married in March. I had my grandbabies for a week. We rescued 3 pot belly piggers. 2 were not in good shape. I thought we might lose one of them she was so emaciated, but she bounced back and is healthy and livin' life. Now that it is summer in TX I am trying to keep...

This lil dude has me confused

Hi ya'll! I got his guy from TSC. I have no idea what he is. I do know that he crows, but shows no signs of wattles, at all. He will be 8 weeks on Tuesday. I thought he would at least show signs of waddles growing, but nope. In my experience, with my other roostesr, the waddle growth was one of...

    Roost ladder

Love it! Thank you but I swapped out the ramp for a different one and I removed the ladder. We are good to go now.

    Roost ladder

I swapped out my ramp for a different one I built. I had one on the outside going into the coop and one in the coop going up to the roost. I just swapped those around added a cinderblock and they have been using it. I removed the actual ladder. Some of them like to sleep on the ramp. Silly chickens.

    Pullet with leg issue

Thank you. Do you know when the other symptoms of Mareks normally show? It seems like there is no real way to know she has it unless she is tested and we have 0 Avian vets in my area so I am on my own. I don't want her to suffer but I also don't want to cull her if she can get better. Its so...

    Pullet with leg issue

I haven't ruled Mareks out but she has no other symptoms other than the one bad leg. She will still even try to use it, she can grip with that foot she just cannot stand on it. She is alert otherwise. Should I treat her for sour crop even though her crop is empty? I am not sure how to check...

    Roost ladder

Thank you. I swapped out the ramps for a smaller one that I put on a block and moved the top of it down just a bit. I put one of my chickens on it and she went up it with no issue. I will show the other girls and then they can do whatever they want lol. Last night when I put them in the coop I...

    Pullet with leg issue

Hi! I have a young pullet.. probably 20 weeks old that I found unable to stand. Her right leg keeps going back behind her. Her left leg is fine.. she sits on it like a normal chicken would. She is alert, her wings work fine, she holds her head up she will eat.. but not much. When I first found...

    Roost ladder

Here is the ladder. I did move it down a little. Its definitely more steep than 45. I suck at making things or coming up with ideas. I don't really mind where they sleep but they are all used to sleeping on a roost. In the new coop, some do, others try, and others dont care. Lol. I need to...

    Roost ladder

Right, I know it is a ladder. I wanted to know if the ladder what something they could use. I posted a pic in response to DobieLover that shows the ramp. My heavier girls are Barred Rocks. I watched them try to fly up there yesterday but they didn't make it. I am patient. I just wanted to make...

This is how I originally had it.. what do you think?

    Roost ladder

Thanks! I created one like this, but they didn't use it, or haven't yet. Mind you there are not used to using a ladder to get to the roost. They were in a smaller coop with no ladders. How did you keep your ladder in that position? Did you just screw it to the board it's against? or did you use...

    Roost ladder

Hello! I made a ramp for the chickens to get to the roost but I think its too steep. The roost is probably 4 1/2 feet. Some of my heavy girls are having issues. I also recently moved them into this coop so they are still getting used to everything. My question is.. do you think this ladder is...

1 week old Show Girls with a Broody Hen?

Yeah, I forgot about that part. My brain first when to ... "oh they will be really small still" but then I realized they are too old. :)
