Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

Celtic - Super pics! :D The grey curly is a beautiful bird. My SB gosling foot is flattened out just as it should after a couple of wraps! I think he thinks were trying to torture him, we have him rubber banded now. He ended up a bit spraddled after the sneaker! Thanks again for the advice!

Gosling hatched today with foot problem, advice needed!

I have a SB Sebastopol that hatched this afternoon with a foot problem. One of his feet is clinched up, toes rolled under the bottom of his foot, and all tight together. You can spread the foot out and all seems normal but it folds back up. Any advice or link as to how to treat this would be...

Help.. my husband thinks we need to cull this baby goose

Good to hear that he is up on his feet. I just had to band another gosling that hatched a couple days ago, he was banded for a day and he managed to get the rubber band off on his own. With just 24 hours he went from his legs straight out to his sides to walking and hopping a bit. Hopefuly your...

Help.. my husband thinks we need to cull this baby goose

One of my first goslings this year had spraddle legs, I used the rubber band method that I found on a post here. After a couple of days with the rubber band he was up and around just like his other hatch mates. I can't remember the post but if you search spraddle legs, you should find...

    Sebastopol Baby Pics Page 6!

That's great! I was re-living my first ones this year, kept going to the I-pad to look for updates! Look at my " goslings day out" post, one of the little guys is a Saddleback. He has the dark beak, looks very close to yours. To me dad is more grey than SB, he is in the last pic of the post...

    Sebastopol Baby Pics Page 6!

By looking at what is in your picture I think it is a bit early. The air cell end of the membrane still looks to have active vessels in it. Pete's hatching guide shows covering the end of the egg with another shell and taping it so it stays moist and the gosling doesn't get stuck. Again I...

    Sebastopol Baby Pics Page 6!

My experience is only from this years hatches, but it seems like forever in all the final stages! The first few I was in your shoes worried to death! I followed Pete's instructions and used a small drill to make an air hole, but I don't know if it was nesscessary. I think it was my fourth one...

    candling goose eggs?

Check out Pete55's waterfowl hatching guide that is in the sticky topic index, start at the top of the goose index page. He does an excellent job describing and illustrating what to look for at different stages of incubation. It will be a good place to start!

white goose in my neighborhood all alone...

Goosey had a good trip up to NY. She is adjusting to her new surroundings, and is a bit nervous tonight. By the time we arrived home it was almost dark, so she didn't have a lot of time to settle in! I'm sure that in a couple of days she will make some new friends and be right to home with...

    seperating waring factions..

I have had the exact same senario, two buddies have outcasted the third gander, who is back with the ducks now. They were chasing him up and down the fence lines, and he was not allowed anywhere near the flock!
