I have a Golden 300 Layer, which is, for those of you who are aren't familiar, a high production Khaki Campbell hybrid cross.
I got her last spring as a duckling. This duck started laying very young (forget the age) and never went through a fall/winter molt and keeps on laying. She has slowed...
I hatched out a few poults a years ago and fell in love with them.
My 2 girls were calm and pet like but insisted in laying their eggs out in the woods
even though provided with a coop and nest box and as much as I tried to hunt down their nests and break them up they both ended up
setting on...
I'm thinking about getting a few for egg layers. Do they really lay super good or is it just some strains and if so who has them?
Do they have good temperaments?
Any comments appreciated. Thanks!
Recent guidance from the FDA will place an impossible burden on farmers who raise true free-range chickens.
The guidance, released last month for farms that have more than 3,000 egg-laying chickens, purportedly aims to prevent salmonella and other food borne illnesses by isolating chickens from...

Has anybody figured out how to prevent wing tips from flipping out at the heavy blood filled pin feather stage
and even later after corrective wing taping when the feathers come in and they still don't tuck into the natural position?
Is it just caused by too fast of growth, too much protein or...
Last year I purchased 16 turkey hatching eggs. This was my first experience with turkeys. Only 4 hatched and all turned out to be females. I sold two to a lady for breeding stock and kept two, a Royal Palm and a Blue Palm. Long story short they were destined for the freezer but I fell in love...
I have 2 - 2012 female turkeys, I don't have a male.
One of the females squats in a breeding position every time I get near her and started calling a lot this spring, I'm assuming for a male.
The last few days she has gone off into the woods behind our house doing the repetitive calling.
I've...
Pictures are downsized to a normal size, I'm doing all the right things.
I've been trying on and off for several weeks to no avail.

Please advise. Thank you!
I have a couple extra 6 month old females I want to sell.
I have White Midgets and Blue Palms.
Have no idea what they are worth.
Assuming they are average quality, what the going rate?
I live in Michigan and we get very cold temps and snow for much of the winter.
I raised my first turkeys ever this year that I hatched from eggs.
Fell in love with the rascals and want to keep a couple of them (White Midgets) but they are getting
harder and harder to go into their shed at night...
Myself and another Sebastopol breeder both received this same exact email today.

Here's my little group around 10 weeks old.
I have one male who looks like he might be thinking about getting aggressive with me.
He sometimes come by me and puffs up, pecks at my shoes or clucks at me.
What do you...
I've had geese for 7 yrs. now and I have read more than a few times about people saying geese keep hawks away.
Personally I haven't found that to be the case at all.
I have four 8 week old turkey poults and I've noticed how extremely keen eyed and bright they are...just like their wild...
Hey folks in the drought/dried up grass areas...
what are you feeding your geese this summer?
I've been supplementing with hay but mainly Alfalfa available around here so a lot of that goes to waste
because its stemmy.
I think this is the first summer ever I'm looking forward to winter.

when they get their longer feathers
