We just got a budgie for my almost 8 year old daughter. He's a sweet bird and we are on day 2. We are home all day (I homeschool my two children) so I know he's not going to get bored around us.
However, it is day 2 and the little guy still isn't really drinking a lot of water (that I can tell...
We got this rooster a couple of years ago, and we were told what sort of mix he was. But at the time we were just starting out and barely knew what a Rhode Island Red was. So, any idea what this guy is made of?
Here are some other pics, I had to zoom in so they may be a tad blurry..
Thanks...
We got a small batch of Wyandottes (and a few others but they didn't make it) and added them to our flock of older birds. We got rid of a few of our older birds because they were 4 years old and had decreased their laying to nothing. Now, one of our new birds is a rooster. So we have two flocks...
I have a flock that I am decreasing. I'll have 6 hens and 2 roosters. One of the roosters was added to the flock as a chick and is pretty low on the pecking order (most of the old hens peck him). Will that be okay since he's never been in competition with our original roo?
I have 13 chickens (2 are Roos). We added new chicks to the flock back in May, and the birds were laying earlier in the summer. My oldest birds are 4.5 years old. For the past 4 weeks we've maybe gotten 5 eggs. Is it the heat? Still stressed from the additions? Getting too old? Any ideas what I...
Our flock is officially rooster-less as of yesterday. Our rooster was a good protector (I guess? We've only lost 1 hen). But he also attempted to protect the flock from us and our 2 year old too many times. Our birds are only 6 months old. Will my hens adapt ok to not having him around? Should...
I've got 4 RIR, 3 Barred Rocks, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, and 3 EE. I read online that EE only lay like 3 eggs a week, but I got 4 blue eggs combined yesterday and today... meaning one of them laid yesterday and today. Our hens first started laying last week. We are getting about 4 eggs a day...
I've got a really nice (NOT) hormonal rooster. He's a speckled sussex. He's been great, was the friendliest bird in my flock, then his dang hormones hit and now he's mean as ever. Every time I go to feed them (1 roo, 11 hens), if I turn my back on him he charges me. He's 5 months old, and I know...
I purchased all hens except for one Speckled Sussex Roo - and my birds are 7 weeks old now. My Roo has DEF been a roo for a while now. He's showing very nicely.
Then today, I check on my chicks, and one of my barred rocks is lookin a little... roo-ish. Can you help me out?
Here's my SS Roo...
I ordered a roo - and I'm hoping that's what this is! I ordered 4 SS, but 3 died. This was the only one left, and I'm hoping this is my little man. His comb is MUCH larger than all my other chicks (BR, RIR, Wyandotte and some EE). So, I don't have any other SS to compare him (her?) to. I'm not...
