today we began our new batch of meaties on a new, affordable non-gmo feed from Hiland Naturals. This blog is totally unscientific for very visually interesting! http://thefowlfamily.com/which-would-you-rather-eat/
I'm sure most of this BYC crew already know how to do this! However, just in case there are any newbies out there like me here is a blog post I just did. It's super easy and will save you a TON of $$$! http://thefowlfamily.com/learn-to-cut-up-a-whole-chicken-and-save-money/
We are half way through our 2nd batch of meat birds and I'm looking to see if anyone knows of an exact feeding schedule. For example:
how many lbs of feed each day per each week (wk 4: 5lb feeds, 1x a day)
Thanks for your help!
A family just gave us 7 new chicks. One of them is a Turkin but I'm very curious what the others are. Check out the photos on my blog and let me know if you can! Thank you! http://thefowlfamily.com/new-unexpected-additions-to-our-flock/
It's hard to believe that only a few months ago the idea formed for our family to begin raising meat birds! Last Saturday our birdies fulfilled just what we had envisioned. Take a look at the whole process! http://thefowlfamily.com/day-of-fulfillment/
This morning we discovered that 16 of our 2 week old meat birds died during the night! I have no clue what happened. We have 2 brooders and all the birds in the other brooder were just fine. The temp was the same in each brooder and there no sign yesterday that any of them were sick. Anybody...
We are 2 weeks away from slaughtering our first batch of meat birds and just filled the brooder boxes with 74 new chicks. Check out how our all-natural healthy dinner is growing on The Fowl Family Farm: http://thefowlfamily.com/raising-dinner/
