Coon Killed my Broody on Day 7- Moving to a DIY Incubator

My broody speckled sussex was on day 7 today of sitting on some Trader Joe's fertile eggs. I got her the eggs last week to allow her to hatch some chicks instead of separating her into a wire cage to break her broodiness. Well I was away today and came home to find a raccoon running away from...

Please Help! Introduced Chicks & 1 Month Later Pecked in the Head

I introduced my 3 new 6 wk old chicks to my one year old flock of 3 and they had a bit of a rough time at first so I waited another 2 weeks and they seemed to be doing well. Chicken Coop? Any Thoughts?

This is an old custom cat house that I'd like to convert to a coop for my 4 girls. Dimensions are 4x4x8. I'd like to attach a run and add in nesting boxes as well as a side door for easier cleaning. Is it high enough off the ground? Any other thoughts?

Do your chicks sleep on a roosting branch or floor?

We have four chicks- Four weeks old and they all sleep on the floor. I added a roosting branch about a week ago and they LOVE hanging out on it throughout the day but they don't sleep on it. Should I be concerned and do something about it or just let them be? I'm hoping they'll be good egg...

So do I have a Light Brahma OR Silver Ameraucana OR...?

I just brought home what I was told was a light brahma however she looks more like a silver ameraucana to me. When we picked her out she did have more distinct markings than the other chicks. The only other thing I am not sure of is that it has fuzzy legs too. Any ideas for me? Thanks all!
