One of our 6 week old Buff Orpington chick has developed a large comb :(, we cannot keep it if it's a Rooster .
I'm still holding out hope that it will be a hen , we love our BO's.
Thank you .
We just picked up 3 Jubilee, and 1 Tolbunt orpington,2months old pullet from a breeder, would like to get a little more information about them.
Thank you
I think I have a problem, we are way above our limits . But I want to the feed store ( I need to stay away from that place) they had a brand new shipment of Rode Island reds, and Blue Langshans,Russian Orlofls, and Ligh Brahmas. I purchase two RIR's but now all I can think of are the blue...
I know it's probably too early, but wanted to see if anyone can tell, we can't keep a rooster, my chickens are illegal sadly. One of them makes a weird noise instead of chirping.
We have one Ameraucana pecking at everyone else, is there anything I can do to prevent that ?. they are about 8 days old. Oddly enough she won't peck at the tiny babies that are about 4 days old.
We have 14 chicks, we may have to cut down to 10, due to space. The last three are our newest ones , only 4 days old. Not sure who to part with. We are so attached already, we purchased fthem for egg production mainly. My hubby thinks we should wait make sure we have no boys and everyone makes...
Oh my gosh, we may have an addiction problem. What started out to only get 6, is now up to 14 baby chicks. We have never had chicks before, we usually get pullet, after loosing our last 3 pullets 3 years ago, we decided to give baby chicks a try, it is becoming an issue lol.
We ended up...
stick to just one breed?. We are finally ready to get our chickens', I've been asking questions for weeks and working on our coop. It took a while to find Laying Hens in our area. But we have the option to get 2 RiR's, and 2 Barred Rock. Or should we do a flock of 4 RIRs, or 4 BR's ?. The main...
We are just starting out and would like to start our backyard flock with 4 RIR's or maybe BR's, but they must be laying Hen's,if anyone in our area have anything please contact me.
Thank you!
I'm not really new,but just getting started. We finished the coop a few days ago, well my neighbor did. Just have to finish painting, and order a few things, then can go get the chickens. The big debate now is whether we should get 3 or 4?, we are thinking of getting either 3 or 4 RIR, or maybe...
I have a coop similar to this one

except mine is 4x4 for the coop, and 4x6 for the run. I initially wanted just 3 Hens, since it is illegal to keep chickens here in my neighborhood, and we wanted the smallest coop possible so that...
Please tell me your coop management/cleaning routines, specifically what you have in your coo/run too. I'm debating between sand and pine shaving.
We are just getting started with this whole journey of raising chickens. I'm in Magnolia TX, in a Deeded subdivision that allows us to keep one...

Hi everyone
I'm looking for a Breeder in Magnolia or near us, so far my search has come up empty except for Blue Star Ranch which is about an hour and a half away, just wanted to see if there was anything more local, our local feed store does have chicks, but we really would prefer pullets...
Hi Everyone
I'm a total newbie at this, we would like to start raising some Hens, 3-4 the most. Sadly my wonderful Hubby is not very handy, so I'm looking for someone in my area to make a coop for me, we want something very simple and low to the ground
