I've used the search feature with no luck.
All of a sudden all of our chickens want to lay on the coop floor instead of roosting. I'm not too worried about it, just curious about it. No other weird behaviors besides they come out of the coop in the middle of the night for no reason.
I added a light to my coop after my chickens stopped laying. The light has been in there for about 10 days and left on a few hours before dawn and 2 hours after dusk. How long does it take for them start laying again?
These Americana mixes are confusing me. Anyone want to help?
There are 2 different birds besides the 2nd picture which the one to the left is the one in question.
About 3 weeks ago we got 30 Cornish X chicks with the plan to process them at home. Now no one in my family (besides me) wants to process them. I don't want to do 30 of them by myself nor do I have the time.
Does anyone know a place that processes in central Indiana? I have called a few places...
Ever milestone anniversary my wife and I get tattoos. Here are ours.
Hers in a Portuguese rooster.
I couldn't handle the shading this time. I have to go back next weekend.
Just thought I would share.
This is by far our favorite hen. Just curious what breed she is. Thanks.
Her feet are feathered and lately she has been getting a "polish-like" tophat. She has been laying for a few months now. She has a purple face.
I've been wondering this for a couple weeks.
Can you still process and eat birds that die of heart attack or broken legs if they are big enough?
Just something that has had me thinking. I am thinking of getting me first flock of meat birds late August/ Early September.
Thanks
My broody hen just quit being broody today. She had 8 eggs under her for almost 2 weeks. My incubator is full and I don't know what to do. The forecast is around 100 for the next 4-5 days but the nights drop. Any advise?
My wife and I had this idea and I was wondering if it would work. As you can see we have our coop and run setup. Would it work having 2 more coops and have all the runs connected? Does anyone have a similar setup and will the chickens go to the same coop every night? Is it a good thing to give...
This morning I woke up to a "different" crowing following my normal rooster. I came outside and one of my Silkies was the culprit. Now I have questions about the other silkie we have. Is it a roo too?
Thanks in advance
I treated my flock for lice after our silkies were covered with them. I treated them all with Sevin dust besides a 3-4 week old chick.
I was wondering if she was too young for it. Momma hen had lice and the chick sleeps under her wing so I figured she has it too. Same train of thought, that...
Just curious what breeds these are.
My big buddy, he likes to "make relations" with his girlfriend
Here he is again with his girlfriend in the middle.
She is VERY protective of her babies. By far the best looking.
Here is the start of our coop. I put it on stilts today and I made it a little too high and have to build a deck around it to get to the nesting boxes. I also plan on making the run this week if weather permits.
I'm trying to find a poop tray with no luck.
We have 15 chicks, which I know...
