    Newborn chick being pecked severely

Help! My two newborn chicks (hatched today) are being pecked by the week old chick and momma hen! One is already bloody around it's eye. Should I remove both new babies right away? Was thinking of putting them in a box and bringing them inside? Any suggestions?

    Possible rooster???

We ordered 25 baby chicks, two of them roosters. The company sent us 27, one of which is another rooster ( on the packing slip). Now we have a mottled Cochin that has, what looks looks like, a red comb starting. They are 5 weeks. Could this still be a female or does anyone know if you can...

How much grit to give 2 week old chicks

We have the one quart chick feeder. How much grit should we put in it? The baby chick grit bag doesn't say. We are going to start letting them roam in the chicken pen this weekend for a while and we are giving them a very small amount of rolled oats.

    Oats for chicks and grit

Does anyone know if you should provide chick grit if you feed the chicks oats? I thought I saw on this forum somewhere that you don't but I can't find it again. We want to try oats to help with the pasty butt.

Runt of the litter having trouble

We received a very small chicken yesterday and she seems to be having trouble. She seems to drink a bit but doesn't want to eat much. She is very wobbly on her feet and she falls over and doesn't get up. We actually thought she had died at one point. Any suggestions on how to care for her...

    Breed ???

We got this little guy today and we aren't sure what he is. Maybe a Blue Cochin or Andalusian? He was listed as a rare exotic (free one) on the packing slip. He has a little grey on his back and yellow on head and bit of underbelly. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance
