I let my hens come in through the cat flap and I'm worried one hurt her toe in the way in. The inside toe seems to be bent but maybe it was like this before and I didn't notice. She's behaving normally. Am I being over concerned ? On the way in she did stop and I wondered if she got a bit stuck...
How careful should I be when handling the chicken poo? Are gloves required? Or is it ok to pick them up with bare hands and give them a good wash afterwards?
My thin chicken who has been moulting has just laid a pale soggy skin and a separate lump that appears to be tissue. It's up to 4cm in length and has the colour of cooked chicken ( sorry!) and when I cut it it has many folds inside. Any ideas? She seems fine now.

I've had my chickens for a couple of weeks now and have used Hemcore in the house and in the run ( which has a concrete base ). I did think that the Hemcore would dry out nicely but after a few days of rain it's turned to mush! What can I use to keep it nice and smell free?
