I've googled this topic plenty with no definitive answer... really, none at all. So do they go by Call Duck incubation times or regular 28 days for ducks? I ask because they just went into lockdown today (day 24) and I hear chirping already...... Please, please, PLEASE be healthy li'l BEI...
After the little guy spends his 4-12 hours in the incubator drying off, should i move him to the brooder super quick in an out since there are still two other eggs set the same date he was that have no externally pipped yet? How does that work when you have one hatch out and the others alive...
Obviously he's a goner, any ideas what happened? All my other guys are going strong, and this one had started developing and the kaput.
Here's another of my eggs (for comparison of the same batch) that is doing fabulous:
I've exhausted Google, and probably my computer, brain (what's left anyway), and probably people trying to find Cayuga breeders with eggs for sale. Can anyone suggest or point me in a direction? What are your opinions on hatcheries online (metzer, cackle, mcmurray, efowl so forth)? Any input...
So out of my 15 Cayuga eggs, half had to be thrown out since they were shipped about 10+ days into development. :/ I haven't had much hope for the others, but since I'm a noob, I candled them Day 4 to see if there was anything at all... Not seeing anything really, granted the eggs are a tad...
I just set my duck eggs in the incubator today (they were just shipped and had sat in a cool area for about 36 hours), however, i went to add some water for humidity and got hit with a slightly rotten odor. So, I went through them and checked for cracks (again) to no avail, so I candled a few...
Have had a hard time finding BEI's, anyone that has eggs available to put in the incubator, PM me a price please and thank ya!
I would also love to get a hold of the following breed eggs:
cayuga
call ducks
Thank ya much for looking =) I appreciate it!
Welp, I finally finished this bad boy and it was a fun project. Hopefully I get to move on to the next step soon =) I'd like to use it for duck and quail.
So far, yesterday I had it running quite steady at 99-100 degrees and 61% humidity. I was hoping to get the humidity down and so far...
Are there any Delawarians roaming the boards? I'm smack dab in the middle of DE, and haven't found many locals to share enthusiasm with haha... how 'bout it?
I posted in Ducks as well, was unsure which would be better to post.
Looked up information on what temps and humidity to keep the duck eggs at for the 28 days.... I found one that say 1-25 should be at 86% and the last few days at 94%....
Another site that says 50-55%.. and yet another 70%...

Hey there!
I'm fairly new to the avian realm =) So far I'm working on building a homemade incubator - much trial an error to prepare! So far my interested is with ducks as they seem relatively easy to work with. Going through quite a few posts, it seems this forum is very friendly and...
It's been pretty hot and dry the past couple of days, and today I accidentally left the sprinkler on for almost 3 hours. #facepalm Yeah, there are puddles in between my hills... Think they will be okay?
I made a homemade incubator similar to this: http://nanaglenmum.wordpress.com/2009/09/21/my-homemade-egg-incubator/
My trouble is that either my thermometer is extremely inaccurate or my 25watt is just super hot. When i turned on the bulb, in a matter of about 7 minutes, my indoor temp read...
Where do you find these type of eggs, and are they fairly easy to sell the chicks? My daughter and I would just be doing it for fun, is it best for us to stick with chickens and ducks?
Thanks bunches =)
