This is probably a really stupid question, but I'm curious. The majority of my birds are Reds. Two, a rooster and a hen, are much darker than the rest. Even petting these birds, they're different. They're much softer, almost rabbit like. Why such a difference?

I have 7 rhode island reds, about 3 or 4 months old. One of them has her comb turning black. It stands high and looks like a scab or like she's burned it. It's summer and we're in Texas, so it's definitely not frostbite! Anybody know what this is? I appreciate any help!
